FitReaders January Goals

Geeky Bloggers Book Blog

#FitReaders: Weekly Check-in.  #FitReaders is  hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and That’s What I’m Talking About. I've joined this group of readers committed to setting and meeting health related goals in 2015.  Ever since my back problems in the fall of 2013 and a fibro flare up in 2014, my fitness has suffered greatly.  I am determined to take control and get back into a regular schedule of exercise.  I've joined this challenge to help keep me accountable.

My goals for January are to participate in some form of exercise 5 days a week.   I plan to post on Saturdays either weekly or bi-weekly.

January 1 - 5000 steps
January 2 - pool class
January 3 - Tai Chi

Do you have any health related goals for 2015?

I do have some goals for my health and I'll consider joining this group. I think I need the accountability and also the encouragement. I'm going to be doing a beginner series yoga class - signed up yesterday and I'll be walking and doing some strength training. It is sorely needed in my life as much for my mental health as physical. Hope 2015 will see all of us putting our health in a prominent position. Good luck to you!

Congrats to you for wanting to overtake your health issues! I also have severe back problems and fibromyalgia as well, & early-onset chronic osteoarthritis throughout my body with degenerative disc disease. The last 4 years have been pretty bad for me and I had to stopping working and go on SS disability.

Life is not easy, but I take daily meds to help with the problems, had surgery to lose weight, and have had epidurals, steroid injections, & laser burning of my spinal nerves. I am supposed to move-- and I do now, but I still fear the pain afterwards. Sometimes just grocery shopping could land me in bed the next day.

I have been taking a 2x daily walk with my dog, have resumed (most) household chores and shopping, and I feel a bit better. I want to get one of those pedometers and count my steps, because walking is something my doctors let me do. I see a therapist to remain upbeat and positive when life drags me down, and of course I blog to happily chat with all you great folks. Sorry to ramble on--good luck and much success!

Tai Chi! You are so cool for doing that. I would love to do something like that or kickbox. Good luck with your goals and I hope your health improves (:

Great goals Nise! I've never taken Tai Chi before - but it seems so cool! Glad you decided to join our group - it's so motivating to know we all have similar goals. It's like having your own cheer leading squad!!!

Get back to doing some strength training by carrying weights as I walk, lifting weights or exercising as I watch TV and maybe even at other times too.

Well done Nise, you're off to a great start. I should do more in the pool it's a bit more gentle for the poor old back and kidney and of course keeping cool is a bonus here. How do you find the tai chi?
