Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
I spent 10 days visiting my mom and brother in Alaska unplugged, but still reading! The weather got off to a rough start but then cleared up and was beautiful for the rest of the time we were there. I've had a hard time adjusting to the time change coming home (4 hours). Here's a couple of pictures.
Don't Look Back by Gregg Hurwitz
Eve, a single mom, decides to takes a guided trip in the mountains of Mexico. She wants this trip to be a new beginning. As the group she is traveling with gets to know one another, little do they know there is a man living deep in the woods. Eve stumbles upon a camera belonging to a former guest while walking and finds a picture of the man. Once she discovers that the girl who the camera belongs to is missing she is determined to figure out what happened. The man in the woods is just as determined not to let that happen. Action and suspense keep this thriller's pages turning.
*Thank you to St. Martins Press/NetGalley for this review copy*Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews
Book 7 in the Kate Daniels delivers everything promised in book six. Kate knows what is coming, but has to deal with other issues first. Her showdown with Hugh is a wild ride and just when you think things are resolved the action ramps up even more. The final showdown is surprising that leads to an interesting twist. Fast paced, funny, and fabulous! Don't miss this series if you like urban fantasy.
Goodnight June by Sarah Jio
June is a good banker that specializes in foreclosures on small businesses. She inherits her aunt's book store in Seattle that she loved as a child. Her plan is to sell it quickly and return to New York. Once she arrives and discovers that her aunt had a relationship with the author of Goodnight Moon things change. She uncovers secrets while reading letters between the two women. Wonderful, enchanting and thoroughly enjoyable.
Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
Laurel is attending a new school where no one know what happened to her sister. She is given an assignment to write a letter to a dead person, however she does not turn in her paper but continues to write letters. These letters reveal what happened to Laurel and help her deal with her grief. An emotional debut.
Before We Kiss by Susan Mallery
Fools Gold series (#14) continues with the story of former football kicker Sam and party planner Dellina. Sam's firm hires Dellina to plan their client party and they hit it off. Another enjoyable installment in this series.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (audio)
I started listening in anticipation of the Starz series. This was my third time listening and I love it even more! Davina Porter continues to blow me away with here expertise in narrating these books. I watched the first episode of the series and was pleasantly surprised that I liked it as much as I did. Too bad I don't subscribe to the channel to continue watching.
I was hoping to listen to quite a bit of audio while away, but plans changed. Will get back to listening to:
The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (Emma Taylor)
Dark Taste of Rapture by Gena Showalter (Sebastian York)
Invisible by James Patterson and David Ellis (January LaVoy and Kevin Collins)
Currently reading:
Personal by Lee Child
Up Next:
The Secret Life of Violet Grant by Beatriz Williams
A Long Time Gone by Karen White
How To Handle A Heartbreaker by Marie Harte

As usual a mixed bunch of genres. Always the best kind.
Goodnight Moon was always a favorite to read aloud to my younger siblings growing up making Goodnight June sound like a very interesting read. Thanks for sharing. :)

I read and also enjoyed Don't Look Back. Goodnight June still on my wishlist. I love your photos! I've never been to Alaska but it looks like a great time was had by all!
I loved Goodnight June ... just had to say it one more time lol. Outlander 1st episode was good, wish I could binge-watch the series! Have a great week and happy reading :)
Good to know you loved Sarah Jio's book, I did too. Yes Davina Porter is in a group all by herself as a narrator - almost as good as a drama. I enjoyed first episode of Outlander but have to wait till end of month to see more. It will probably come out on DVD eventually I guess.
Hope all the packing up north went well.
I have the Sarah Jio book on my shelf - would you believe I have not read any of her books yet? I really need to change that! Aren't you loving the Fool's Gold series? I'm so glad I am all caught up!
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my blog!
It always seems harder adjusting to the time change coming back home, doesn't it? Sarah Jio never disappoints and I'll be curious to hear what you think of the new Beatriz Williams.
I'm amazed at all you read while you were away - I never get any reading done when I go to my mom's. Goodnight June sounds really good to me.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Now to add to my list and get them read. I never considered myself a slow reader, but I cannot keep pace with most of the bloggers on " What Are You Reading? Hope you enjoy your week back at home, and catch up soon.
I am such an Outlander freak! I love the books, and was so excited about the show. So far, I am happy with how it is being produced. :)
Alaska sounds amazing!! I will be bouncing over to see your photos next. :)
I want to read Magic Breaks. I'm a fan of the series and I'm looking forward to seeing what Kate and Curran are up against this time!
Enjoy your week!
What a great vacation/family visit. I spent a lovely day a few years back in Ketchikan (a cruise port). And you read so many good books!
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I loved Magic Breaks and Love Letters to the Dead. I haven't got into Outlander frenzy but I am getting a little anxious to read the book which has been on my stack for years. You can see my week here. Happy reading!
Oh, nice. It's your third listen to Outlander? I've never started the series. I may have to jump on board with all of the other late comers. :)
It sounds like you had a wonderful time away! It's so nice to have time to read and visit with family.
I have Goodnight June coming up, so I'm so glad you enjoyed it. :)
