Weekly Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

All The Water In The World by  Karen Raney (audio)
Eve is a single mother facing the possible death of her 16 year old daughter Maddy.  Maddy has cancer and is determined to experience all she can in the time she may have left.  She sets out to find and get to know her father, have a relationship, as well as just be with her friends.  They both made decisions that are not always healthy, but understandable.  Told in the alternating voices of Eve and Maddy, at times humorous, heartbreakingly sad, but over all a good debut novel narrated by Rebekkah Ross and Gabra Zachman.

Under A Firefly Moon by Donna Kaufmann #4
Cheyanne and friends bought into Lavender Farm as a means to start over after each suffered grief.  As a former barrel racer she decides to use part of the farm for rescued horses.  Her good friend finds a horse that needs a place.  Chey is surprised to find out that it is Buttercup.  A horse that belonged to a man of her past.  Tori shows up with Buttercup and to her utter surprise Wyatt, the horses former owner.  He escaped his father and never looked back. Their reunion brings up so much from the past that neither are sure they want to go back.  However when their town and farm is threatened with development they agree to work together for a solution.  As they do they make peace with their past and hope the future will include each other.  A good story that took a different direction that I expected.

The Way of the Brave by Susan  May Warren #1
Jenny a former CIA profiler and her friends go on a climb every year.  For Jenny it is a way to forget her guilt and prove that she is stronger than she feels.  This year they choose Denali. She is surprised when Orion shows up at her training facility so far from his home in Alaska. He has been asked to join a friends SAR business. They met while on a mission in the Middle East that went so wrong, and their brokenness has kept them apart since. When Jenny's climb with her friends goes all kinds of sideways, Orion and his friends come to their rescue. Will they survive and be able to salvage what happened to them in the past for a chance at a future together? Just when you think they are going to be safe something worse happens. Full of suspense and action as these characters seek answers, healing, and forgiveness.

We had a great 6th birthday celebration for our grandson.  The zoo was open with appointment times to enter.  Everyone had a great day.  It was not too hot so the animals were up and moving around.
We enjoyed a picnic outdoors.

Good to hear the birthday trip was a success. While the book All the Water in the World sounds good it also sounds like it would be hard to read.

Nice variety of books. Our zoo reopened this week but only the outdoor exhibits. I haven't been to the zoo in years but it would be a nice reason to get outdoors and walk. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Yay for birthday celebrations. Our zoo has opened up but it's one way and none of the indoor exhibits are opened and everyone 3 and older must wear a mask. We haven't attempted it yet.
