Last Week's Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

Find Her by Lisa Gardener (#8)
D.D. Warren is back on limited duty, but it doesn't keep her away from crime scene.  Flora has survived a horrific abduction and finds herself, once again, kidnapped and being held. She has prepared for this and when D.D.arrives on scene Flora is standing naked over her captures dead body.  While searching the house where Flora was held, they find evidence that leads to other missing girls. D.D. wants answers that Flora is not too quick to give. When Flora goes missing again the search for another predator is on. In alternating chapters Flora's back story is told that leads to guesses of what is happening now. It was great to have D.D. back to work and I hope she continues to make a full recovery. An unputdownable first book of the New Year!

Missing Presumed by Susie Steiner
Det, Sergeant Manon is laying in bed lamenting over another failed Internet date, wondering why she keeps saying yes when she hears about a missing 24 year old girl over the radio. Knowing she isn't going to sleep, she gets up and goes to the scene. There are signs of a struggle, but little clues as to what happened.  Last seen when her friend Helena brought her home after a night out, all are questioned: her prominent parents, her boyfriend Will, her brother, and her best friend. When a body washes up and things begins to look related the investigation really takes off. Slowly secrets are revealed that get us closer to what really happened. Told in various character's POVs (Manon, Miriam (the mother), Helena (the friend) and Davy (Manon's partner) that added to the complete telling of the story as well as setting up Manon as a reoccurring character.  A fine character driven novel.

Chasing River by K.A. Tucker (audio) #3
Amber has saved up for this trip of a lifetime. While running across a part to catch a bus, she is run over literally.  This guy has just saved her life. She thinks he was there at just the right time. River was there for a reason and disappears before Amber can thank him.  She tracks him down at his family's pub and they begin a relationship. River is hiding a huge secret.  Amber spends time with him and her travel plans are put on hold which is so unlike her.  What will happen when she finds out what he's hiding?  Loved the characters and setting, but did get bogged down with the history. Steve West did a great job narrating River with his accent and I felt how torn River was between telling the whole truth and his family loyalty. Elizabeth Louise got Amber's desire to step out of her comfort zone while being torn with wanting to stay with River.

It is back to the normal schedule this week. It is fun to get decorations out, but nicer when they are all put away. We are digging out of Lake effect snow and hope to have a couple days of nicer weather.

I loved Find Her (can't wait for her next book!); I also enjoyed Missing, Presumed.

I haven't read K. A. Tucker yet, but I'm definitely eyeing this one.

Thanks for visiting my blog...and enjoy your week.

Missing Presumed is one I'm thinking of adding. It looks like a great thriller. I just discovered Greg Hurwitz after looking at a book of his called The Rains. It's a dystopian though.

Hope you guys are digging out! It's been snowy although yesterday we had lots of blowing and drifting.

I read FIND HER earlier in 2016 and liked it, though it didn't have enough of D.D. for me. LOL

I have a copy of MISSING PRESUMED and want to read it soon. And I'm curious about THE NOWHERE MAN. Hubby and I listened to the first book in that series on a vacation this last year. I liked the main character.

Yes, I agree it's good to be back to a routine. I'm very curious about The German Girl since I've seen it on several blogs. Enjoy your reading week.

I love all of our decorations but, when Christmas is over, I'm over them. I'd like to read all the books you read last week.

Ugh. Lake effect snow. Sounds dreadful. Thankfully I live far enough south of Cleveland that I don't have to deal with that. It's been freezing cold here but supposed to warm up starting tomorrow.

I love Christmas but it is good to get back to normal too. I didn't decorate this year.

Hope you have a great week!

I know what you mean about getting decorations put away and the house back to normal! Hope you're dug out from the lake effect now.. and I'll look for your thoughts on the Elin Hildrebrand novel. The Winter series was good and I'd like to read more.

Missing, Presumed looks really good!

The cold came swift and sudden! I don't mind winter being winter but this was sort of brutal. Although, it has been worse so maybe I should be quiet..

Our decorations are packed away - save for the real wreath on the front door. I leave that for a few weeks :) Enjoy your reading this week!
