Weekly Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

Best of My Love by Susan Mallery (#20)
I absolutely love visiting Fool's Gold and catching up with all its characters. Shelby and Aiden both need a new start and decide to be friends for six months to work on their goals. They take turns having "girl" and "guy" nights. Hilarious, heartwarming and a great HEA. Can't wait until the next visit to Fool's Gold.

He Will Be My Ruin by K.A. Tucker
Maggie is in New York emptying her friend's apartment.  An art collector pursuing a degree Celine's death has been rules as suicide, Maggie cannot understand why.  While packing up Maggie finds a hidden picture of a naked man with the caption "This man was once my salvation. Now he will be my ruin" . She is determined to figure out what led up to Celine's death.  The more secrets she uncovers, she is convinced that her friend was killed. When the private investigator Maggie hires goes digging things become complicated and she doesn't know who she can trust. This was a page turner that kept me guessing.

The Duchess War by Courtney Milan (#1)
Minnie has been living in hiding after an incident that took place when she was twelve, and continues to avoids crowds due to that incident. Minne would like to make a good marriage and live a quiet life. When she is suspected of being the writer of seditious material, she knows this is just the kind of attention that will be disastrous. When she discovers that the Duke of Clermount is the one writing the handouts she confronts him. Robert is amused and attracted to Minnie.  Robert does not want to the the Duke that his father was and is looking for ways to right some wrongs. He also longs for a life totally opposite of the one he lived and knows Minnie will be perfect for him. Minnie is afraid of the attention the Duke would bring. How they work it out made for a delightful read.  The supporting characters were likeable and I look forward to their stories.

The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert (#1) (audio)
Callie is being used as a pawn for an alliance between powerful families. She has agreed, but decides to spy on Brendan Halloran at his place of business. She discovers him doing something horrifying and accidentally kills him. The Hallorans are sure it is the O'Malleys. The alliance still needs to be solidified so Callie's father makes a deal with the O'Malleys. Teague agrees to the match in order to stop the violence not knowing Callie's secret. Both Callie and Teague want to stop the feud and bring the illegal businesses to a stop. Can they figure out a way before it is too late? The story line of  powerful Boston mob families feuding attracted me to the audio book.  I did not know there was a romance element when I went into the book, but their chemistry helped to made this a good beginning to the series. Charlotte North did a great job narrating.

February Month In Review

It was a slower week of reading.  My grandson was sick and could not go to daycare for two days so I stayed home with him.  When he was well enough to go back, my son-in-law got sick and needed me to help him out with Cole.  Loved the time with him!

Grandma's are great and moms too! I have stopped reading Fool's Gold but I am tempted, just so much to read is my problem. I do want to read the Tucker one though, I like her writing very much.

I've heard KA Tucker's books are a good read. I read Pretty Girls and The Choice, first one very good but explicitly violent, the latter somewhat formulaic.

Too bad about Cole. Little ones do pick up germs easily, and that's where Grandmas come in handy, to help :)

Well I want to read ALL of those books you mentioned! Poor Cole. Winters are hard. Gage's cold turned into an ear infection that we are still taking antibiotics for. Hugs to you and Cole :)

Awww... lovely to have that time with your grandson! I don't have kids but always enjoyed time with my niece when it was just her and I!

And... an interesting array of books there again this week Nise!

Happy reading!

Sorry little Cole has been sick, but happy you could spend time with him. I've been eyeing the Tucker book and wondering about it. Will keep it in mind. What are you thinking about PRETTY GIRLS? I read it last year and liked it pretty well - might have been a little over the top even for me (and even for Karin Slaughter).

I can't wait to add some new titles to my shelves. I am looking at several of the ones you are sharing today. I still have the Dare I am participating in, "to only read books I owned as of Dec 31st, 2015, until the end of March. I can do that, but I am tempted to start some new ones. Thanks for sharing these that I will add to my wish list.

Can't wait to hear what you think of After You. I really enjoy Jojo Moyes but have been putting off this book for a while. I loved the first book so I'm worried this one won't live up to my expectations.

I'm sure time with your grandsom was well-enjoyed even with him sick. :-) I am glad he is doing better.

These all sound like good ones, Nise'. I'm particularly interested in Mallery's book as well as He Will Be My Ruin.

I hope you are having a great week!
