The Dirt On Ninth Grave by Darynda Jones (#9)
This book is very hard to talk about in order avoid spoilers for those who have not read Eight Grave yet. Eight Grave left us on a major cliff screaming..."Noooooo"! The first half was a bit repetitive and slow. Once Charley realizes something is going on with the neighbor she becomes obsessed with figuring out what is happening with Mr. V. Her snarkyness and doggedness remains in tact. You can feel the anguish and love of the other characters as they wait on Charley. The second half gets crazy good with break neck speed, twisty turns and with a heartfelt, emotional way in which Charley gains some much needed information and help. Looking forward to what happens next to these characters.

Bailey has just come through a hard won fight with cancer. She has decided that she will live to the fullest and has a list to help her with this goal. She comes to Cedar Ridge to tackle an item on her list, "paint a mural". She is hired by Hudson's mother who struggles with mental issues and is disappointed to discover it may not happen. Hudson's family, however, thinks it is a great idea and get on board despite Hudson's negativity. Hudson pushes himself to never let his family down and it shows. The guilt is weighing him down and he tries to work it off, at the family's ski resort and as a cop. He find Bailey a nice distraction from his everyday worries, but is determined to keep it light. Bailey is just a intrigued, but for her, he just a short-term as she has her list to live. The family is blinded by their chemistry that they work way too hard to deny. Full of fun, heartwarming moments, and with hilarious banter that had me laughing out-loud numerous times. Can't wait for Jacob's story.

I did not read this book while reading all my other themed books since I looked at it's series (Fools Gold) rather than a holiday read. Madeline loves her job managing the Paper Moon Bridal Shop. She loves to help brides find "the one" dress that they've dreamed about. She is surprised when Mayor Marsha asks her to help the newest resident in town plan his sister's small wedding, but agrees as long as they know planning is not her bailiwick. Jonny has moved to Fool's Gold looking for a place to just be himself, not the movie star. He has been very satisfied with this move as the town's people have been treating him like a regular guy. Madeline has been star struck by Jonny, but it determined to help out Marsha and Dellina by getting over this silly crush and help Jonny plan Ginger's wedding. She quickly learns how that he is a regular guy, but the crush is not going away. Another great romance in Fool's Gold Shelby's story is next.
Into the Fury by Kat Martin (#1)
Brodie Operations Security Services has a new job. Provide secruity for LaBelle Lingere. The models have each received a threatening note right before taking the anticipated show on the road. Ethan Brodie is sure while this will be a headache of an assignment, but his partners are otherwise engaged. He quickly learns that these are no dumb bunnies and gains respect for these the hard work these ladies put in every day. When one of the models is murdered the assignment gets harder and Ethan is assigned to protect Valentine 24/7. Because he is also a private investigator, he investigates while protecting and things aren't adding up. Will he figure out what is going on before another model is killed? A good beginning to a new series.

Vivian is trying to make it as a reporter in 1964 New York when a package awaits her at the post office. While standing in line to retrieve the item she meets a handsome young man that helps her carry the suitcase home. When she finds out that it belongs to her Aunt Violet, a family member that she doesn't know much about, she is intrigued and knows it will make a great story. Her mother does not want her to pursue the story of this family member that left the bosom of her family to become a scientist. All they know of her is that she disappeared with her lover after her husband was killed. Told in alternating voices of Vivian and Violet. Vivian is a spunky woman determined to have a career and find love. Violet's story is filled with mystery, intrigue and a few twists. A great read.

My decorations are all still up. Partly because I do love having the Christmas lights up throughout the house but mostly because I just hate having to pack them all back up again! Kudos to you for getting right on it.
I will be starting The Dirt on the Ninth Grave this week and I am looking forward to it.
The others look good too. I haven't read Kat Martin in a while but Into the Fury sounds really good.
My decorations for this year are away but now I have to put away all the boxes that have been out in our basement through 2015!
Have a happy new year and happy reading!
I do like to have the decorations up for a bit to keep the spirit going, but this year I think we're taking stuff down soon. Cute picture- someone's having fun! :)
Nice wrap up post BTW. You had a good reading year! And I like the idea of keeping track of where you read- that would be fun.
So want to read The Secret Life of Violet Grant and the JS Cedar ridge if I can. I have yet to start the Darynda Jones, but one day!
I only put up one decoration this year, a jingle bell doorknob hanger and it is still up. I'm sure I'll get tired of it and put it away soon but I did hang it up kind of late.
I admit that I was a little disappointed by the romance in My Kind of Wonderful. I just struggled to connect with the characters or care about them. I do plan to give Jacob's story a try as it sounds interesting and I did like the first book in the series more. Marry Me at Christmas kind of sounds fun though I'm not very familiar with the Fool's Gold series.
Wow, you are really back in the reading groove. Our Christmas decorations must be done before the first but I must admit I was sad to see them go.
Happy New Year, Nise'! My decorations are still up and I'll be honest, as I didn't get around to them this weekend, that means they'll be up until next :)
I'm going to have to add that Beatriz Williams book to my TBR list - sounds like a good one!
We have to take ours down early because we have two kittens who delight in nothing more than wrecking things. Happy reading and have a great week :)
All very interesting looking titles! Have a great reading week! :)
That looks like a great collection of books. I hope you enjoy them!
My It's Monday! What Are You Reading? post.
Glad you enjoyed The Secret Life of Violet Grant! I love the way Beatriz Williams tells a story and plan to read this one soon.
I like Beatriz Williams too. Sounds like you got some great reading in. I take down all the Christmas stuff on New Year's Day while the Rose Bowl parade is on the TV. I always have mixed feelings: glad to have the house back in order but sorry to see the holiday season end.
Lately, the decorations come down pretty early. In bits and pieces. All are down and mostly put away, with the exception of my Amaryllis of course. It is blooming this week and just gorgeous.
I find it hard to read more than 1 book but listening seems almost impossible, do you have 1 in the car, kitchen, bedroom? How do you do that?
We are a linger household and keep the tree up until almost near of Jan but we will start to take all other decorations down around the house.
I'm hoping to read All the Stars in the Heaven too. A close friend who read it can't stop raving about it and I love Trigiani's books so it's on my list. Happy reading!
I haven't read any of the books you listed. S L O W is my middle name. My decorations are still up, what little I put up, I leave things up until January 6th and then they slowly get put away, Much of my stuff is winter, so some stays up till Valentines Day. Happy Reading.
I've been wanting to read "The Secret Life of Violet Grant" for ages! I'll have to get to it soon!
You sure were busy last week. I want to start the Darynda Jones series. That is one of them that I have on my TBR list. they sounds like they are going to funny.

We put everything away on New Year's Day - kind of our usual tradition. One fun thing is that we figured out how to leave our tree up - undecorated. My husband always hates that part and so he was delighted when I had made room in a big closet we have.
I have the Violet Grant book on my Kindle and want to read it this year. I love that cover.
I like the look of The Secret Life of Violet Grant...
The baby's joy in the treasures from the cabinets reminds me of my own kids back in the day. I had locks on every cabinet door except the one or two cupboards with pots and pans or Tupperware. What fun they had!
Enjoy....and thanks for visiting my blog.
You read some great books last week, Nise! I loved My Kind of Wonderful :) Jill Shalvis just always does it for me :)
Have a fantastic week and happy reading.
