Shelia at Book Journey hosts this event to share the book you chose as your first read of the New Year! I have been devoted to the "In Death" series since the very first book Glory in Death. It was hard to leave the book on the stacks so it would be the first book of the year!

Devoted in Death by J.R. Robb
When Lieutenant Eve Dallas examines a body in a downtown Manhattan alleyway, the victim’s injuries are so extensive that she almost misses the clue. Carved into the skin is the shape of a heart—and initials inside reading E and D . . .
Ella-Loo and her boyfriend, Darryl, had been separated while Darryl was a guest of the state of Oklahoma, and now that his sentence has been served they don’t ever intend to part again. Ella-Loo’s got dreams. And Darryl believes there are better ways to achieve your dreams than working for them. So they hit the road, and when their car breaks down in Arkansas, they make plans to take someone else’s. Then things get messy and they wind up killing someone—an experience that stokes a fierce, wild desire in Ella-Loo. A desire for Darryl. And a desire to kill again.
As they cross state lines on their way to New York to find the life they think they deserve, they will leave a trail of evil behind them. But now they’ve landed in the jurisdiction of Lieutenant Dallas and her team at the New York Police and Security Department. And with her husband, Roarke, at her side, she has every intention of hunting them down and giving them what they truly deserve . . .
This is book #41 in the series and I still look forward to each one. Eve and Roark are great as a couple with mutual respect, love and admiration. The secondary characters continue to develop and grow. The case is always intriguing and interesting in how they investigate it. One of my all time favorite series!
By waiting to read this installment I won't have long to wait for the next one as Brotherhood In Death releases in February.

Happy New Year Nise. Yay for J. D. Robb love that series too and catching up on it I hope this year to more recent books. Like you love Eve and Roarke and those secondary characters. Enjoy.
Happy New Year! Love the picture. This is a favorite series of mine as well. I read the entire (and I mean entire) series in 2014. Have not picked up any since that time, but I know I will at some point. I'm glad to only be behind a 2 or 3. That Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb - she's amazing!!
My mother-in-law is a big J.D. Robb fan - me, I'm more of a Nora Roberts fan! Happy New Year Nise!!!
I hope it's worth the wait :)
Happy New Year!
It must be great fun to be so invested in an enjoyable series! Cole looks totally captivated by his book. I read a little of my first book, but have held off until today. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
Ahhhh... love Cole's first book too!
Happy New Year! Nothing like a good mystery to kick off 2016. Enjoy!
Happy New Year! I love Nora Roberts' books but somehow I don't think I've ever read anything under the JD Robb name. Not sure how that happened! It's definitely a series I want to start. Hope you love this one! I love how fascinated Cole looks by the dog book. Too cute!
I need to try one of Nora Roberts' Robb books. Happy New Year!
Cole is a cutie! Enjoy your book and Happy New Year!

I like the looks of your son's book. I miss those kind of books and that age. Enjoy your pick. Hau'oli Makahiki Hou.
I have started to shy away from series, however, if they are good series, I stick with them. Have a Happy Reading 2016 Year...
Good choice for the 1st read of 2016. I also enjoy reading the 'In Death' series by J. D. Robb. Happy reading in 2016 to you!!
I had that problem too...I was SO excited to read my book, but I wanted to hold onto it so that it would be my first book!
That's quite the lengthy series - sounds like a great book!
Reading With Jade
I 'inherited' a lot of those books when we cleaned out my parents house. I haven't read a one...now I'm on my way upstairs to see if I have number 1! I have a lot of catching up to do.
Happy 2016 Reading to you!
I really need to binge read some of my favorites series this year! I read one of this series somewhere in the middle and really liked it but am not sure I could go back and commit to 41! Happy reading to you and to cutie Cole!
Happy New Year! I didn't realize there are 41 books in that series! Hope you enjoy this one :)
I am so far behind on this series! I've read the first three...very pitiful, LOL.
Enjoy! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
One of these days I'm going to read some of this series so I will stop wondering what I'm missing! I even have a few of the books on my shelf.
Happy new year Nise :)

A mystery is a great choice for first book of the year!
It's great when you fall in love with a series and have a new book to look forward to. I haven't read a book from this author in a long time. I hope this one is as good as all the other. Enjoy!
I love it when I find a series/author that I connect with, and can't wait for the next book! Sue Grafton is my favorite. Thanks for visiting from Sheila's wonderful list of readers!
ENJOY your first book of the year.
It looks good.
Cole is adorable. Get them reading at an early age. :)
Happy New Year!!
