Reading Wrap Up

It has been a busy week here with some remodeling that happened around my birthday, and as much as I tell my husband it doesn't count as my present, one has not turned up!

Kitchen before and after.  I forgot to get a before of the bathroom.  We are so pleased with how it all turned out.  It happened quicker than we anticipated so the painting did not get done.  We will tackle that soon.

Inside Out by Lia Riley (audio)
Talia and Bran have separated to purse their individual dreams.  The separation was a bit forced by circumstances, so they are somewhat miserable even though they are realizing their dreams. Talia in the Peace Corps is in Africa teaching, and Bran on the Sea Alliance. The story is told in their alternating voices. When Talia gets sick, Bran drops everything and goes to California to be with her as she recuperates. They still have things to work out, but are committed to working it out instead of pushing each other away.  Each has major issues pop up that threaten the relationship - how they work it out makes a great story. Narrated by Brittany Uomoleale and Tim Wright.  This the conclusion book in the series.

The Hotter You Burn by Gena Showalter
Second book in the Original Heartbreakers series is love 'em and leave 'em Beck and down on her luck Harlow's story.  Harlow has burned bridges all over town and has no one and nothing. Beck and his partners have purchased and are renovating her family home.  She is caught by Beck sneaking in one day.  Beck has been intrigued by Harlow since finding childhood pictures of her hidden in his room.  Harlow wants nothing to do with Beck as she is searching for everything that he has him running.  How Harlow works to change herself is wonderful, that Beck can't help but fall.  Looking forward to Jesse and West's story.

Stop at Nothing by Kate Serine
Kyle left town to escape his father, but left behind the love of his life. Letting Kyle go was one of the hardest things Abby had to do, but felt it would be best for his career among other things. Abby in the course of an investigation uncovers something that leads to the kidnapping of her sister.  Kyle has been reassigned and he's back home wondering if things will Abby can be rekindled.  Abby asks for his help and soon they both discover that his former investigation and hers is related (a bit unbelievable).  I wanted to read this first book in the series after reading and liking the prequel featuring Kyle's brother Joe and Sadie.  There was plenty of action and romance and I plan to pick up the next book.

A Curious Beginning has been getting some good buzz. I'll bet the remodel looks great- I can't see the pictures for some reason (think I'm having browser issues), but sounds like you've been busy. Hope your weekend was nice.

The pictures aren't coming up for me either Nise'.... will check back in later in case it's a me thing!

And I completely agree... remodelling does not count as a present! :-)

I liked A Curious Beginning though I definitely prefer the Lady Julia mysteries. Hope you are enjoying it. I'm kind of in the mood for historical mysteries too and have a couple on my TBR pile.

Darn, I can't see the pictures either Nise` ... tried in a different browser and on my ipad but no luck. I'm with you, remodelling is great but not a birthday present. Time to shout yourself a pressie lol. Happy reading :)

Hmm see I am not the only one with the pics not coming up. Darn, as would love to see what you have done to the kitchen especially. Hope a present turns up though, I mean you both live in the house!! I like Sheree's idea -shout yourself if no movement!!

Oh well, guess we're all having trouble viewing the pictures. I know it shouldn't count as a birthday present, but around here it would likely be credited as a Christmas present, too! ;-)

I will check back later to try again with the photos...

I couldn't see the remodeling pictures either. As far as gifts go, your husband sounds a lot like mine.

Nice mailbox, nice week.

How are you enjoying A CURIOUS BEGINNING? It was my first book by this author. The book was good, but had odd characters. :)

Have a great week.

A giveaway for A CURIOUS BEGINNING IS happening on my blog until October 7, then a giveaway for THE SILENT SISTER and also EVERYTHING SHE FORGOT beginning October 6.

I stopped reading that series by Lia Riley after the first book as it wasn't for me, but that's good to hear it continues nicely and they try to work out their issues. That gena Showalter book sounds like a good one! Hope you have a great week!
