We had our first snow storm of the season way too early for me! It is always frustrating driving on the first day of snow with crazy people who do not slow down. Finally feeling better after a two week cold.
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
It was neat to finish this book on the anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down since it featured prominently in the story. Cecilia is a busy lady with wonderful family and friends. She finds a letter addressed to her to be opened after her husband's death. Tess had just been told her husband and cousin have fallen in love. Rachel's son is moving to New York with her 2 year old grandson. Her grandson has helped ease the pain of the loss of her daughter. These women's lives unfold as we learn the secret and how it affects each of them. I devoured this book. I am glad that opened the book knowing very little about the story. I would open the letter, would you?
The Elephant On Sixth Street by John Morton.
Jack's day starts out normal, spending time with his infant daughter before going to his job as a speech writer. By night he does stand-up comedy. He enjoys a few vices that this story is centered upon. He finds out there is a video of him and Meg at a "massage" parlor. They set off to get the video back. This short book is funny, fast paced and told in almost a screen play way. .
*Thanks to Baby Pachyderm publishing via NetGalley review copy*The Buried by Shelley Coriell
Prosecutor Grace receives a few calls from an unknown number. When she finally is able to answer a girl tells her she is buried alive and needs help. Grace is not sure if the call is real or a prank. Lia's body is found and Grace receives another message. Theodore Hatcher "Hatch" one of the famed Apostles of crime investigators is called in to help. Hatch is in the area for a surprise of his own. Grace and Hatch have a history. Their race to find the next victim is intense, revealing and takes a twist that no one saw coming. I look forward the next book in the series.

The Laird by Grace Burrowes
Michael Brodie finally is able to return home to Scotland after being gone for 9 years. He left behind a wife, who has managed to hold things together even though she is not beloved by many. Michael is determined to make a life with Brenna, but she is just as determined to keep things her way. There are reasons behind her anger and tight control that are painful, emotional and revealed slowly. Michael takes his time to learn these secrets. The subject matter is difficult but handled very well. A wonderful conclusion to this series.
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
A.J.Fikry has become a bit of a hermit, opening his bookstore every day even though he doesn't care if any customers come in and when they do he is rude to them. When he finds something that was left in his bookstore his whole life changes. With a great supporting cast of characters this was such a joy to read. Book lovers will really appreciate the story even more. Don't miss this book.
Only Enchanting by Mary Balogh
Book four in the Survivor Series. The survivor club is a group of seven survivors that meet together every year. This year due to Vincent and Sophie's baby they host the get together. Agnes is a friend and neighbor of Sophie. Flavian is glad to be away from home as his former fiancee, who left him after he was wounded, is now a widow, and their families are matchmaking. He is more than happy to keep Agnes company. They marry unexpectedly and have to work to make it a love match. I've enjoyed this series and look forward to the next survivor's story .

I want to read The Husband's Secret and A. J. Fikry. I wish I could read as fast as you do.
The snow is here apparently! That first day driving in it was not fun... how did you like Girl With All The Gifts? Someone told me I HAD to read it, but I have not yet.
A J Fikry on my wish list as well.
The Husband's Secret sounds really interesting. I haven't heard of it before but I'm going to have to check it out.
Like you I enjoyed The Husband's Secret - and yes, I would have opened the letter. I have just downloaded the first of the Survivors Club books by Mary Balogh, thanks to yourself and other bloggers talking about them.
Aww Burrowes book :)
Loved The Husbands Secret! That book made me a Moriarty junky, I mean fan :)
I loved AJ Fikry as well - one of my favorites of the year! I didn't love Husband's Secret, but after trying Moriarty 3 times (also What Alice Forgot and Big Little Lies), I think she's just not for me.
After reading Big Little Lies, I put a hold on The Husband's Secret and am (not so)patiently waiting to get to the top of the list!
You Should Have Known is on my kindle. Will be curious to hear why you think.
I am always amazed at how many books you read each!. I hope you have another week of fun reading.
I read and loved both The Husband's Secret and AJ Fikry...both were excellent! Have you read Liane Moriarty's newest book, Big Little Lies? That's another good one!
We haven't gotten snow yet, but its definitely gotten colder here.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my blog!
I read and enjoyed The Husband's Secret and have Big Little Lies, but haven't read it yet. I would probably enjoy The Buried as a suspense fan, and I want to read AJ Fikry as so many really liked it. Thanks!
