I bought some beautiful mums with the intention of replanting them. I put them on my deck and a huge storm came through. I am now trying to nurse them back to their beautifulness! Spent a couple of days with my grandson Cole trying to get him to smile in a video to send to GiGi (my mom in Alaska). He is all smiley until I turn on the video, the light catches his attention and he just looks at it with a puzzled look. It is a lot of fun trying.
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
Nest by Esther Erlich
Eleven year old Naomi "Chirp" loves to watch wild birds. Her mom has recently been diagnosed with MS and how it affects this family, especially Chirp, is what this story is about. The neighbor boy, Joey, has his own family problems. Joey and Chirp are unlikely friends that come up with a plan to deal with what has happened. This wonderfully written debut is an emotional roller coaster, but well worth the read.

After reading Into the Darkest Corner, I knew this author would be one to watch. This is her fourth book, and it is written as a police procedural. It takes a few pages to get used to the style, but I quickly became absorbed in the story. Two women in the same neighborhood were found dead. It was clear that the first one was murdered, but the second was first thought a suicide. As DCI Louisa Smith and her team investigate they discover how these two women are linked. This is the first book featuring Lou and I look forward to Behind Closed Doors.
Dare to Love by Carly Philips
Book one in the Dare Brothers series. Ian is the oldest of the family and has, for years, harbored anger against his father for having another family. He is also a love 'em and leave 'em type of guy, he protects his heart from any kind of hurt/betrayal. He meets a woman that has the potential to thaw his heart, but she is on the arm of his half-brother. They are friends for a reason. Will Riley allow her interest in Ian to come between her friendship with Alex? A quick, easy read for a rainy afternoon.
Bones Never Lie by Kathy Reichs
Temperance Brennan is called to the cold case unit to find out that an old case of her has resurfaced due to some similarities to a couple of current cases. She will need to call on the last person she wants to in order to help. More thoughts on Wednesday.

Nest Sounds Interesting! Have a super week Nise! I look forward to hearing what banned books you choose!
I think Nest looks neat too, and All The Light is supposed to be quite good. We got a little bit of that storm, not too bad just some high winds but there were some power outages...
I want to read All the Light We Cannot See. I've heard excellent things about it.
I don't have a garden but my mom's Mandevilla got overturned in the storm last night. I hope the mums recover!
Nest sounds really good. I love the story about your grandson! I hope you get him so smile on camera soon! :-)
Nice selection of reads
Great post! Nest is on my Kindle waiting for me to read. It sounds so good, I'm hoping to get to it soon.

Will look forward to your thoughts on All the Light We Cannot See. Hope your mums recover!
I love Elizabeth Haynes!! Her new book sounds awesome, I will have to check it out!
These storms Michigan has been getting lately are nuts!
I've heard Kathy Reichs is a really good mystery author. I've not read her books yet. Would like to try one. I like that first book, Nest. Would love to read it. Have a good week.
Nice books in your list, Nise'. I'm hoping to read some of them soon.
My Sunday/Monday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2014/09/weekly-book-recap-82.html
Your grandson sounds adorable! You have had a busy reading week! Good luck with your flowers.
Nest sounds a little gut wrenching but I think I'd like it. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you have to say about the Reichs book.
You had a busy week! Great books. :)
Have a wonderful Monday.

My Monday Post
Nest sounds intriguing. I hope you enjoy your books. Happy reading!
It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
I enjoyed Eyes on You...hope you do, too.
And I have Into the Darkest Corner on my stacks...must read soon!
Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog. Have a great week!
Oh!! I hope your mums survive. We haven't seen weather here in a long while and this drought has kept any of us from planting anything. I am trying my hardest just to keep my hillside alive but it's not looking good and in October, we have to cut back to just two days of watering.
Today I got to work, turned on my Kindle and the battery was dead. Considering I just charged it and it normally holds a charge for months, I am thinking I have a problem here.
I absolutely loved Natchez Burning...it's so long, but incredibly readable and the pages fly by. I'm looking forward to the second installment. Hope you like it!
I really want to get into the Bones series, so I like your coverage.
Also, Nest looks wonderful.
I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga has been on my TBR for a while, would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you for visiting my site!
Nice looking bunch of books. I enjoyed Bones Never Lie when I read it a while ago. Happy reading!
Nest looks really interesting. I'm afraid I cannot do Bones, I just dislike this character, for no apparent reason, and Booth well he should still be a vampire... Have a good week.
Nest looks good to me. I read that Koryta book and it was very good. I tried the first Kathy Reichs book and it was decent, so I should think about moving ahead with it. I like those kind of series.
Greg Iles is always a good author for me! Haven't read that one yet, but have it on my kindle and am hoping to squeeze it in soon.
I totally get the fun of getting that smile on camera, aren't we lucky getting to spend so much time with our grandbabies! Are the 'mums' you're talking about daisies?
I love the sound of Nest, adding it to my wishlist. Have a wonderful week and happy reading :)
I read the first Kathy Reichs novel a while ago. I need to move forward with that series. Enjoy your week, and good luck catching your grandson smiling!
