Weekly Reading ReCap and IMWAYR?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

I bought some beautiful mums with the intention of replanting them.  I put them on my deck and a huge storm came through. I am now trying to nurse them back to their beautifulness!  Spent a couple of days with my grandson Cole trying to get him to smile in a video to send to GiGi (my mom in Alaska).  He is all smiley until I turn on the video, the light catches his attention and he just looks at it with a puzzled look.   It is a lot of fun trying.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Nest by Esther Erlich
Eleven year old Naomi "Chirp" loves to watch wild birds. Her mom has recently been diagnosed with MS and how it affects this family, especially Chirp, is what this story is about.  The neighbor boy, Joey, has his own family problems.  Joey and Chirp are unlikely friends that come up with a plan to deal with what has happened. This wonderfully written debut is an emotional roller coaster, but well worth the read.

Under A Silent Moon by Elizabeth Haynes

After reading Into the Darkest Corner, I knew this author would be one to watch. This is her fourth book, and it is written as a police procedural. It takes a few pages to get used to the style, but I quickly became absorbed in the story. Two women in the same neighborhood were found dead. It was clear that the first one was murdered, but the second was first thought a suicide. As DCI Louisa Smith and her team investigate they discover how these two women are linked. This is the first book featuring Lou and I look forward to Behind Closed Doors.

Dare to Love by Carly Philips
Book one in the Dare Brothers series.  Ian is the oldest of the family and has, for years,  harbored anger against his father for having another family. He is also a love 'em and leave 'em type of guy, he protects his heart from any kind of hurt/betrayal.  He meets a woman that has the potential to thaw his heart, but she is on the arm of his half-brother.  They are friends for a reason.  Will Riley allow her interest in Ian to come between her friendship with Alex?  A quick, easy read for a rainy afternoon.

Bones Never Lie by Kathy Reichs
Temperance Brennan is called to the cold case unit to find out that an old case of her has resurfaced due to some similarities to a couple of current cases.  She will need to call on the last person she wants to in order to help.  More thoughts on Wednesday.

I think Nest looks neat too, and All The Light is supposed to be quite good. We got a little bit of that storm, not too bad just some high winds but there were some power outages...

I want to read All the Light We Cannot See. I've heard excellent things about it.

I don't have a garden but my mom's Mandevilla got overturned in the storm last night. I hope the mums recover!

Nest sounds a little gut wrenching but I think I'd like it. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you have to say about the Reichs book.

Oh!! I hope your mums survive. We haven't seen weather here in a long while and this drought has kept any of us from planting anything. I am trying my hardest just to keep my hillside alive but it's not looking good and in October, we have to cut back to just two days of watering.

Today I got to work, turned on my Kindle and the battery was dead. Considering I just charged it and it normally holds a charge for months, I am thinking I have a problem here.

Nest looks really interesting. I'm afraid I cannot do Bones, I just dislike this character, for no apparent reason, and Booth well he should still be a vampire... Have a good week.

Nest looks good to me. I read that Koryta book and it was very good. I tried the first Kathy Reichs book and it was decent, so I should think about moving ahead with it. I like those kind of series.

Greg Iles is always a good author for me! Haven't read that one yet, but have it on my kindle and am hoping to squeeze it in soon.

I totally get the fun of getting that smile on camera, aren't we lucky getting to spend so much time with our grandbabies! Are the 'mums' you're talking about daisies?

I love the sound of Nest, adding it to my wishlist. Have a wonderful week and happy reading :)
