We have received over a foot of snow this past week. Cold, windy and horrible road conditions kept me at home doing what I do best: reading!
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
The Highway by C.J. Box (audio)
Cody Hoyt has been fired for planting evidence and it is his partner that told. While he is drowning his sorrows in booze, his son calls to tell him two of his friends on their way to visit him are missing. They met them last summer while they were all on a wilderness trip in Yellowstone. Cody travels to investigate for his son and stumbles upon more than he bargained for. When he goes missing, his former partner gets involved. Full of action and suspense. Holter Graham does a great job narrating. I was looking forward to another book featuring Cody, but was a bit disappointed by this one.
Mirror, Mirror
Five stories by five different authors based on fairy tales. I picked up the book because it had an "In Death" short story. I ended up not reading Taken In Death as I decided to listen on audio. I was pleasantly surprised by the four other stories. They were all delightful and by authors that I had never read.
If Wishes Were Horses by Mary Blayney, Beauty Sleeping by Elaine Fox, The Christmas Comet by Mary Kay McComas, Stroke of Midnight by R.C. Ryan
If Wishes Were Horses by Mary Blayney, Beauty Sleeping by Elaine Fox, The Christmas Comet by Mary Kay McComas, Stroke of Midnight by R.C. Ryan
Taken In Death by J.D. Robb (Mirror, Mirror) Audio
Twins Henry and Gala are kidnapped, their Nanny murdered. The security shows it is their mother's. But quickly Eve and team learns it is the twin sister. Eve must work quickly to delve into the mind of this twisted sister and find the children. These novellas are always fast paced, entertaining and help the wait for the next "In Death" book. Susan Erickson is fantastic once again.
If You Could See What I See by Cathy Lamb
Meggie has returned to help her sisters, Tori and Lacey keep their Grandmother's business - Lace, Satin, and Baubles, from going under. Right away we learn that Meggie is a mess and slowly (too slowly at times) we learn the reason why. Each sister has issues and Grandma Regan is determined for them all to reunite as a strong family. Their mother is a renowned sex therapist that adds humor to the messy lives of the sisters. Can they find a way to save the family business and reconnect as a family?
Always Watching by Chevy Stevens
Dr. Nadine Lavoie's new patient has attempted suicide and as she learns Heather's back story it brings up childhood memories that have been blocked for years. Her relationship with her daughter is strained. The worst happens with her patient and it sets things in motion that keep the reader fully engaged until the very end. Another good story from the author.
Runner by Patrick Lee
Sam Dryden is out jogging and a young girl stumbles into him and asks for his help. Quickly he learns there is more to Rachel than just a runaway. A thrill ride with great characters. I look forward to the next Sam Dryden novel.
Up Next:
I just started The Bat by Jo Nesbo, the first Harry Hole book. I am at page 54 and could put it down. Have you read it? Should I keep going?
The MacGregor's Lady by Grace Burrowes

That's one good thing about the bad weather - more reading time!
Have a great week!
Looks like a great reading week. After reading this Cathy Lamb book I bought three more of hers, still have to read them though! That TBR grows!
The Chevy Stevens one looks really good.
I haven't read anything that you've listed, but I decided I give a book 100 pages and then if it's still not doing it for me, I quit.
Runner sounds like fun! Stay warm, the bad weather just won't let up I guess!
A LOT of listening there Nise' - glad you had time while snowbound!
Are you mobile now? We're getting more every day - and too cold along with it. HapPy to stay indoors =)
Have a great week!

So, If You Could See What I See was a little slow? but was it worth it?
I've got a couple of Chevy Steven's books to read, picked them up after loving Still Missing.
Have a great week, make the most of that freezing weather and curl up with good books!
I started reading Always Watching last night...it hooked me immediately!
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Wow, you did do a lot of reading last week!! I get a lot more reading time in the winter, too...we have another snow day today.
I'll try Jo Nesbo again, if you like The Bat!
I'm glad you enjoyed Always Watching. I have my eye on the Cathy Lamb. Have a great week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I'll have to look at Mirror, Mirror again. I just read the In Death story and set the book aside. I just finished Runner and really enjoyed it. Come see my Monday Report if you get a chance. Happy reading!
I am so bad at getting the In Death novellas and not reading the rest of them. I will keep it in mind to read the other stories when I get there because I like fairy tale stuff anyway. :)
This weather has sucked all of my reading time away since I now have Gage home all of the time. Love him but he needs some schooling!!
