Summer vacation is over, school starts Tuesday, so it's back to work for the hubby. I spent most of the weekend struggling with my back that decided to act up, at least floating in the pool does not make it hurt worse!

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer
We meet Jules, Ash, Ethan, Jordan, Goodman and Cathy when they are teenagers at an art camp and follow them for 40 years. A wonderful, character driven chunkster that was easy to relate to as this group of friends grew up when I did.
Screwed by Eoin Colfer
The debt Dan McEvoy owes the local crime boss has come due. He thinks it is an easy to accomplish assignment and then he can get back to his casino. It ends up being more than he bargained as he has been set up big time. How he gets out of the situation and into others worse than the one before is hilarious, fun and definitely for adults!
He's Gone by Deb Caletti
Dani wakes up after a work party she attends with her husband to find that he is not at home. After 24 hours, she knows something is wrong. Even though I did not really like any of the characters, the pages turned quickly to find out what really happened. I liked the author's YA books better.
Also Read:
The Shinning Girls by Lauren Beukes (audio) clever & creepy (9/6)
Bellman and Black by Diane Setterfield, a lovely Gothic (9/25)
Up Next:
This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
The Guilty One by Lisa Ballantyne
The Ashford Affair by Lauren Willig
The Exceptions by David Cristofano

I'm glad you enjoyed The Interestings, too; and as for He's Gone, I liked it. I haven't read the author's YA books. I still haven't read very many YA titles by anyone.
I'll have to check some out. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Sounds like your life may be back to normal, with hubby going to work. I'm looking forward to getting some daytime cleaning. I need to start in the morning to do my thing, 'cause by the afternoon, I'm worn out. You've had a good reading week.
I've heard other bloggers say that the characters in He's Gone are unlikable. At least it was a fast read!
*Boo* to back playing up ... more floating in the pool for you. I love Deb Caletti's YA, don't think I'll be rushing to read this one, I don't want to be disappointed lol. Screwed sounds like a hoot!
Have a good week and happy reading :)
Looks like you got a decent amount of reading in, but a sore back is no fun. Hope it comes right soon.
Bellman and Black is on my list as well. So many intriguing reviews on this one.
He's Gone sounds so good, too bad it wasn't great.
I hope you will have a great reading week :D
I need to put The Shining Girls on my wish list!
Have a fab week,

I still have He's Gone on my wishlist, but don't have it yet. The Interestings would probably appeal to me, as I am of "a certain age" :) Thanks for sharing these.
Hope your back gets better soon. I am disabled and one of my problems is my lower spine--so I feel for you 100%! Hope reading makes you forget about it.
I can't wait to get to Bellman & Black. How as it?
I wish you could come to the Hachette event too. It is nice to meet other bloggers I talk to.
ENJOY your week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
The cover of Screwed and your description have piqued my interest!
Funny that you didn't like the characters but that you did like the book. Interesting.
I'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on The Ashford Affair - I had borrowed the book from the library when it first came out but didn't get to it in time before it had to go back.
Hope you have a great week and that your back feels better!
