"I used to imagine it sometimes, what would happen if one day I just didn't come home. Not that I ever considered running off -I could never actually do that, even if I occasionally had that fantasy about driving south and checking in to some hotel. Someplace with bathrobes, for sure. I love those. But, no, the thought was less about escape and more about some cruel intervention of fate. What if, say, the cliched bus it me as I crossed the cliched street? The Mack truck. Whatever it was, something terrible would happen and my family would have to return home to find all the daily pieces of my interrupted life. "

Sounds like a sad story, but the into has me curious. I hope you enjoy it.
Wow. Now that's intriguing.
That sure to capture my attention and make me want to know what's going to happen. Plus, love the cover.
I love the cover and the intro. I think I'd give this one a go. Kelley at the road goes ever ever on
Yes that beginning would keep me reading.
I do want to read this one....and the cover art is beautiful.
Cover and opening premise really remind me of The Time Traveller's Wife. Very intriguing opening.
Thanks for reminding me about this book...I'd really like to read it. Enjoy!
Here's my Tuesday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2013/08/first-chapter-first-paragraph-27-and.html
Ooooh, this sounds like a really good book. I'll read it for sure.
My Teaser is from THROUGH A YELLOW WOOD.
I like the intro, and I also remember feeling like that in part, when my kids were small and I was a 20-something mom of 2:)
She sounds incredibly depressed.
Sounds like a lady with a lot to think about. Be careful what you wish for.
Yes, keep reading - that intro has totally sucked me in.
Gotta love a hotel with bathrobes! I remember feeling that way when I had 3 kids under 4 years old.
How intriguing! What if...? kinds of stories always fascinate me. This reminds me a little bit of Anne Tyler's Ladder of Years (I think that's the title) where the mother/wife just goes off and doesn't come back. I used to think that was so bizarre, and now on some days? I actually get it. Sort of.
Not a very uplifting thought to start my day!
I've heard alot about this book and it sounds good. I would keep reading.
I like the cover of that book. It sounds like an interesting read too.
