It is very hard to capture in a photo the water as our basement floors are painted gray. As you can see in the family room the water is easily identifiable as we walked around trying to put what we wanted to save up out of reach of the water.
Thankfully the water did not get high enough to immerse our shoes while sopping it up with towels and running the wet vacs we have. We spent 36 hours trying to keep ahead of it. Yesterday I spent 6 hours getting all the towels, sheets, blankets, whatever we could find to soak up water washed and dried. I finally broke down and hauled it to the launder mat and used their industrial sized machines. I was not the only one there washing/drying soaking wet items.
It is still not totally dry. Once it has stopped raining and seeping in we will move everything out of the family room to suck up as much water as we can before removing the carpet.
To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

Oh, no! I hope you are starting to dry out now.
Oh how annoying. I was thinking that would be me, someday soon, I must get things out of that room, not sure I would have been in shape to even care if my stuff floated away. Don't work too hard, I'm sure already have, but try not to get sick over it.
How awful, this happened to us just once in our other house and I cried...(such a mess to clean up)Glad it wasn't worst for you.
Soaked basements are no fun at all! I hope the rain stops soon and you're able to salvage most of your belongings.
Oh no!!!!!!!! That's terrible. Many of my friends experienced that last week and it really is devastating!!
Oh, I am very sorry for all you are going through...I had a flooded hallway in my previous home, but it was not nearly as bad. It still took so much effort to fix. I wish you the best!
Thanks for visiting my blog...my thoughts are with you.
Sorry to hear you got water in the basement. Even a small amount makes such a nasty mess.
It's bad here too, with all the rain the rivers are overflowing their banks. My town library has five feet of water in the basement knocking out power and is now closed for the week... but the books are all safe!
I'm so sorry! I don't think many people realize how awful water damage can be. I'm glad it wasn't any worse for you.
Hang in there.
How awful. That happened to me once, so I know what you are up against. Not fun. Hope you didn't have too much damage and things are drying up.
Oh that's awful! I'm so sorry you are going through this.
Oh Nise that's terrible. Having just been through storm and flood damage back in January I'm feeling for you, it's such hard, sad work getting everything cleaned up. Nightmarish thinking about people who've gone completely under and lost everything when your own devastation is enough to make you cry! Hugs
What a pain that must be! I hope that you are able to easily keep it from happening again.
Oh man! I hate basements! We have never had luck with them. It's awful that you are going to lose the carpet. Dry hugs to you!
