Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.
Last week's reading started out very well until the rains came, then we spent four days trying to keep up with the water in our basement. The water has stopped and we are drying out.
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
Beholding Bee by Kimberly Newton Fusco
Bee is a young girl living and working in a carnival. Her parents died in a car accident and the only person she feels safe with is Pauline. People try to gawk at her diamond shaped birthmark on her face. When Pauline leaves to work at another carnival, Bee is afraid the owner will put her on display next. She leaves and is taken in my two old ladies. A touching story with a little bit of magic.
The Summer He Came Home by Juliana Stone
A quick, enjoyable read with likable characters.
I also finished two audio books. (I will post my thoughts later)
The Cowboy and The Cossack by Claire Huffaker (Phil Gigante)
Those We Love Most by Lee Woodruff (Karen White)
Reading:
The Death of Bees by Lisa O'Donnell
Up Next:
Impostor Bride by Nancy Richier
It Happened At The Fair by Deanne Gist
The Lost Art of Mixing by Erica Bauermeister

I'm curious about your thoughts on The Death of Bees. You have a "Bee" theme...
Thanks for visiting my blog.
that drying out doesn't sound the greatest!

taking a break with a book should be a bit of refreshment :)

Ugh basement flooding is no fun! I am glad to hear you are finally drying out!
Beholding Bee sounds really good!
I need to get back to The Death of Bees, I got part way through and then got distracted, it's REALLY good though - sort of mindblowing, consciousness unleashed minus a filter. I loved it. Ahh, need to finish! (Also don't read the first few pages out in public, you will get strange looks, lol.)
The Death of Bees, sounds really interesting. I'll be watching to see what you think of it.
I'd love for it to dry out, looks like a busy reading week. Have fun!
My Monday
Whew, I'm glad you're drying out!
I'm so sorry to hear about your flooding basement! We had some pipes burst in our house a few months ago, so I can unfortunately commiserate.
I hope everything dries out soon and that you get to read some wonderful books this week!
Beholding Bee sounds interesting.
Thanks for the encouraging words, I appreciate it.
Just finished Knots and Crosses and started Haunted Ground.
It's going to rain tonight. Hopefully you won't get anymore of it!!!
Have a great week and a dry one!!
I hadn't heard of Beholding Bee. I will have to look it up. I have heard good things about The Death of Bees and purchased a copy for the library so hopefully I will get to read it someday.
Have a great week!
