Snapshot Saturday

We have had a few pests around the yard that we have had to deal with.

It has been very interesting to sit in the lounge chair and watch this lone wasp build his/her nest. When he/she would fly away we would remove it, but he/she got right back to work. After three times, it was necessary to remove him/her as well.   Sorry wasp!  The other hangy thing was one we removed to encourage the wasp to go elsewhere.
The arrow shows where the wasp was busy building, and that he/she had to go.   You can see the edge of the lounge chair where I was sitting watching this all happen.

We also called our local electric company to let them know there were ants busy boring into their pole. The circle shows the crack they were living in and the pile of dust they removed to do so. They came out with and sprayed the entire pole and surrounding area.
Today is our youngest, James', 21st birthday!

  Happy 21st James!
To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

Happy 21st birthday to your baby. We've had wasp issues in the past too, and I believe I have one in the shed. My husband like to play with them so I'll set him to that. Have a great weekend. I'm so glad the weather is co-operating and you are able to sit outside. Maybe today I'll be able to get out there to do some much needed gardening. It's been so hot...

Those wasps are determined things aren't they?

Happy birthday to James!!! We have a gopher who makes holes in our yard.... no idea what to do about him.

Yes, wasps need to go elsewhere to build their nests ;)

Happy Birthday to James!

We actually live on what is essentially a huge sand pit, so it is ant central here...

Happy Birthday, James!

We've had wasps too in previous years - I'm hoping they've gone somewhere else this year. I can't stand ants!

It's amazing, how industrious insects are, in general. It's like they never seem to quit working at something, one way or the other. And causing a bit of nuisance!
These are great, observant pics!

Happy birthday to your youngest son! They do grow up fast. You saw my youngest today (daughter with main squeeze) and she is mid-thirties already.

Thanks for sharing your insect plight...and for visiting my blog.

We have to discourage wasps from building under the roof of our porch every year. It must be popular real estate in the wasp world.

Happy Birthday to James!

Here's my Snapshot.

Wasps and ants can be a real nuisance anjd they are often really difficult to get rid of. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/ha45K

We get wasps building nests outside our house every summer and have to deal with them. I've never seen ants do that before - quite an impressive pile of dust they excavated there.

Happy Birthday James! My husband got stung by two wasps the other day...getting the mail. they were building a nest under the mail box.
So...yeah, those old wasps had to go too.
Have a good day.

Happy 21st birthday to your son. My son is only 11 but I'm sure he'll be 21 too before I can believe it. Interesting photos of the ants and wasp. The wasp looks really big, I wouldn't want him sitting near my spot on the deck either.

Happy 21st birthday to James. A milestone celebration. (Wish I could do 20s again!)

I have the exact same problem with wasps building under the deck railing. When they finally gave up on that location they managed to get inside the fixture for the yard lights. They are as unstoppable as squirrels.

You were very observant to spot both the wasp and the ant pile of sawdust. Hope you've convinced the critters to head out to the woods. Here's Mine

I'm glad you rid yourself of the wasp -- an unwanted guest in the lounging area!

Isn't it amazing how much destruction little critters can cause? We have a lot of wasps busy building under our porch roof. I have to knock them down with the golf club all the time!

Happy birthday James!! Hope it's been very special. My middle son, has the middle name James, and his 22nd birthday is July 22! (That's a lot of 2s in that statement)
