Week in Review (IMWAYR?/SP)

Reading has taken a back seat to all this time we have to do those projects we kept putting off. Our interior has almost all been painted. The landscaping has never look this good!!  Hopefully soon we will be able to get the carpet we ordered installed. Our grandson's 1st birthday is this weekend, not sure when we will be able to celebrate as a family IRL.

Life and Other Inconveniences by Kristan Higgins
Emma is asked to bring her teenage daughter Riley to her estranged grandmother Genevieve's home for the summer.  Gigi is dying and wants to get to know Riley.  At first Emma refuses, but after a situation at Riley's school, she changes her mind and they go.  This is an emotional story of relationships, forgiveness, and second chances.

Winter's Proposal by Sherryl Woods (#3,#4)
Two books repackaged under a different title.  The Cowboy and His Baby has Cody returning to his hometown he left after thinking his girlfriend cheated on him to discover she had his baby.  The Rancher and His Unexpected Daughter is the story of Cody's father Harlan finding love after the loss of his wife with the new to town lawyer. Two good stories about family, forgiveness and finding love the second time around.

Huckleberry Lake by Catherine Anderson #6
Erin is at a crossroads in her career.  She became a cop to please her father, but knows it is not the job for her.  She has struggles with trying to be what her father expected for his love and acceptance.  After a troubling case she decides it is time to quit and find something she loves. She takes a job at her uncle Slade's ranch. Wyatt is the foreman at her uncle's ranch and has been a secret crush of Erin's for a long time.  Wyatt is deaf and even though he is attracted to Erin his secret past prevents him from pursuing a relationship.  Both try hard to deny their feelings and agree to be friends especially since Wyatt is now her boss on the ranch.  As Erin learns how to be herself through working with an abused horse, Wyatt discovers that his past does not have to rule his future.  Heartwarming, emotional, feel good story.

Passion on Park Avenue by Lauren Layne (audio) #1
Naomi, Audrey and Clare meet outside of Clare's husband funeral.  They discover they have all been taken advantage of by him.  Naomi has a difficult upbringing when she and her mother were thrown out of the home.  She has built herself into a successful business woman and has the chance at an apartment in the building she was (as a child) thrown out of.  Much to her surprise the  neighbor is non other than Oliver, the boy that did not tell the truth about her mom. She starts out with the plan to get even, but it quickly turns on her as she finds herself attracted to him. He does not recognize her and that may work in her favor as she lets go of her bitterness and works on forgiveness.  But secrets have a way of being discovered and when hers is, will it destroy the relationship they are forming?  Plenty of hilarious banter mixed in with the emotions.  The narrations by Nancy Wu and Steven Patrick Hopkins made this story a listening pleasure!

Hmm I've been avoiding the latest Catherine Anderson because some of her more recent ones have been ho hum to me, however good to see you liked this one and it could change my mind and I might get it.

With all the kids home 24/7 there isn’t enough room to do home Reno projects...the house is too full.

Wishing you a great reading week and good health

It looks like you still managed to read quite a bit! It's so sad that family gatherings have to be cancelled.

Happy Birthday to your grandson! It sounds like you have been very productive! That's great that you have the time to work house projects that you'd been putting off. I've noticed a lot of people are doing that right now.

It sounds like you read some good books. I enjoy Catherine Anderson's writing and am looking forward to reading Huckleberry Lake. Passion Park Avenue sounds fun.

I hope you enjoy your reading and week!

These books all sound good. I have been reading about a lot of people using this time to remodel and renovate but the bug hasn't hit me. We just moved into this house a couple of years ago and nothing needs doing as far as I'm concerned. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Happy birthday to your grandson! It's so hard not being able to celebrate these things in person. Hopefully soon you will be able to!

Take care this week. :)
