Weekly Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen (audio)

This is a very clever book with many twists and turns.  Just when you think you have it figured out...you are wrong. Julia Whelan does a fantastic job with the character's voice which had me so surprised when a layer of the story was revealed. It is best to go into the story not knowing much about the plot. I could not stop listening to this audiobook.

You Me Everything by Catherine Issac

Jess has been raising her son alone for the last 10 years.  It has become important that her son William gets to know and bond well with his father Adam.  She convinces her friends to come along with her and make it a holiday. She is surprised at how she finds herself feeling about her ex when she was expecting him to still be irresponsible.  It is hard to be away from her parents during this difficult time, but it is her mom's wish that her grandson knows his father.  Why is a every important, emotional and pivotal part of the story. A well written debut that tugs at the heartstrings.

The Other Lady Vanishes by Amanda Quick (#2)

Adelaide is hiding out in a small town working in a tea shop.  Her husband had her committed to a mental hospital in order to gain control of her trust fund. Not only is her husband looking for her, but those working on a special drug are as well. Jake is "resting" in the same small town and takes an interest in Adelaide.  He is a bit of a mystery and we wonder what he is keeping secret.. When Madam Zolenda, psychic to the stars, ends up murdered Jake and Adelaide have to figure out how it is related to her escape and subsequent discovery. Plenty of twists and turns that has me looking forward to revisiting Burning Cove of the 1930's.

A Death in Live Oak by James Grippando (#14)

Jonathan Davis narrates this 14th book in the Jack Swyteck series that will have you  gritting your teeth at the truth of history as well as vacillating back and forth about what really happened and why. The author handles the subject matter  it in a way that is riveting and entertaining. Jack's FBI wife Andi becomes involved in a way that makes a big impact on their lives. Looking forward to Jack's next case.
