Tuesday Intro/Teaser

First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros is a weekly meme introduced by Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea  and now hosted by Vicki of I'd Rather Be At The Beach every Tuesday. To participate share the opening paragraph or two of a book you've decided to read based on that paragraph. Please feel free to join in, First Chapter~First Paragraph~Tuesday Intros.

Congresswoman Joan Kingsley moved quietly through the deep night-shadows of her home, not turning on any lights because darkness suited her these days. She resented the sun for shining, people for laughing, the days for passing. The anguish in her heart, her soul, was too all-encompassing for her to do anything more than function as she must. She hated the house. It was big, much too big for just her, but even hating it now she couldn't bring herself to leave it.

The Woman Left Behind by Linda Howard
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Ambrosia of The Purple Booker

She had loved him so much - still loved him. Death didn't stop love, it just kept on, an ache now instead of glow.

Yes, I'd continue reading this one. Sounds like there is a story indeed. And knowing the type of stories Linda Howard writes - well, wonder about what comes next.

This sounds good. Linda Howard used to be an "auto-buy" for me but I've not kept up with her more recent books. This week I have Shattered Mirror by Iris Johansen. Happy reading!

I've been noticing this book...and now I definitely want to read it. Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “THE FEMALE PERSUASION”

After reading the opening, I'm definitely curious about what's causing "the anguish in her heart." I like the fact that the character is in a position of power. So few novels feature women in leadership roles.
My Tuesday post features excerpts from Goodbye to the Blues.

It sounds like it could be a really powerful story. See what we are featuring at Girl Who Reads

I've enjoyed Linda Howard's stories in the past. This one sounds equally as good.
