Weekly Reading Wrap Up

Wired by Julie Garwood  (#13)
Allison is taking her Boston College degree and taking it to California to make a name for herself in the tech world.  She has dabbled in hacking, but only for good and to right wrongs. When FBI Liam Scott comes calling, she is worried.  But he needs her help to figure out who is leaking sensitive information without them knowing.  She is willing to help them for a limited time. Meanwhile, her Aunt and Uncle who have always been demanding of her ramp up the demands to help her cousin. An easy, entertaining read.

Dangerous Minds by Janet Evanovich (#2)
Riley works for an eccentric man. Emerson loves mysteries. When his friend shows up and tells them the Island he has been living on has disappeared Emerson is all in for figuring out what happened.  The antics they get into are hilarious on the quest to discover what really happened. A quick read with great characters.

I Like You Just Fine When You're Not Aroundby Ann Garvin (audio)
Tig's life is a bit chaotic. Her mom's condition has deteriorated so that she need to live in a facility.  Her boyfriend wants her to move to Hawaii with him for six months. When this turmoil interjects into her counseling and she tells off a client, she knows something has to change. She takes a leave, tells boyfriend she's not coming with him to spend time with her mom, and then her pregnant sister shows up with marriage troubles.  While spending time with her mother she discovers that there are secrets that could change her life. An emotional, touching funny story of relationships narrated by Terri Schnaubelt.

Sawbones by Melissa Lenhardt (#1) (audio)
Catherine Bennett has to prove herself over and over as a Doctor in 1871. When she is accused of a murder that she did not commit, she knows it will not go well for her. She heads west with a group headed to Colorado as a mid-wife. She changes her name, but in Texas is recognized not only by a acquaintance, but by the Fort Captain as she treated him during the war while serving with her father..  When their wagon train is raided by Indians, she finds herself  filling in as a Fort Doctor. Her past just won't stay hidden and she has to make a difficult decision. Suehyla El-Attar wonderfully narrates this intense book that at times is hard but always hopeful.  I look forward to the next book in the series and plan to listen on audio.

The Good Boss by Scott Hildreth (#3)
Narrated by Elizabeth Hart and Jeremy York this conclusion to the series is told in the alternating voices of Terra and Michael. Since Terra's father is in prison, she has decided to postpone the wedding until he is out.  Michael is busy running the business and doing a good job. This book wasn't as intense as the first two, but thoroughly enjoyable.

October In Review

Spent a few days with these handsome boys as their furnace went out and had to be replaced.  We saw a few flakes of the white stuff, but it didn't stick around.  I know it is on its way, but I can be patient

Never glad for a furnace to go out, but at least it happened BEFORE the bone- chilling cold hits. How about those little sprinkles huh? I even saw a little sleet on the deck this morning.

Dangerous Minds has a fun, tropical cover!

Our current place doesn't have a furnace but it doesn't snow here. Come see what I'm reading this week.

I found Sawbones interesting but quite full of violence in parts so know would have been a difficult listen in parts. Secrets in Death was good on audio.

Snow already? Even if it didn't settle, it feels too early for it!

Wired and Dangerous Minds are on my wishlist. Those are favorite authors. Sawbones sounds good too. We are up to 20 inches of snow already. I'm already tired of it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I've never had my furnace go out thankfully! It sucks it's so cold and you had to deal with that.

I read the first book in that Scott Hildreth series but then sort of forgot about it. Maybe I need to pick it back up!
Bummer about the furnace but great that you got to spend time with those 2 cuties!

What a nice variety of books. I love Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series but have not read this one. I should give it a try. And those two boys are adorable! Have a great week and happy reading!

Love the pic of the boys! We had our first real white stuff today. As long as it takes a break when we need to travel I'm okay with it. It is beautiful. Have a great Thanksgiving!!!
