Weekly Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

A Promise to Kill by Erik Storey (#2) audio
Clyde Barr is in Utah when he meets an elderly Ute man in trouble.  He stops to help and after meeting daughter Lawanda and grandson Taylor he stays to help out on their ranch. Soon after he is embroiled in what is going on in their town.  Clyde is a loner, drifter and will not hesitate to help out and he gets the job done.  Pete Simonelli narrated this non-stop action packed story that kept me riveted to my earbuds. I look forward to the next Clyde Barr story.

Into The Water by Paula Hawkins
The story of this town's secrets is told through multiple character's voices. Two devastating events have happened that are pulling the town apart.  Who will get to the truth? Who wants the truth to stay hidden?  Not as riveting as I expected this story to be. The many changes of POVs was a bit distracting and I think it would have been a better story with less.

Sparking the Fire by Kate Meader (#3)
Molly is trying to rebuild her career after photos were released.  She begins shooting a movie that will  go a long way to do that and hopefully feature the Dempsey family of firefighters. Wyatt being on medical leave is tasked with being the consultant for the movie as well as protecting the interests of his family. Shockingly they know each other from six years ago and rekindling the spark could put both of their goals in jeopardy.  Plenty of sparks fly in this conclusion of the series.

Busyness and tiredness contributed to the slower pace of reading this week.  The next two weeks will be slower so I hope the reading pace picks up.  The last week has been hot, hot.  We've never been in our pool this late in September.  That all will be changing later this week.

Up Next:
Snap Judgment by Marcia Clark
The Pearl Thief by Elizabeth Wein
Cocoa Beach by Beatriz Williams

It has been hot! Although the cooldown is coming. And it seems like I've heard the same thing about Into the Water a few different places- too many POV's.

Into the Water is a new one for me. Also that Beatriz Williams book you've got up next. Nice.

It has gotten pretty warm right? But I am not complaining too much, I would rather have it be hot than cold hehe

Great group of books. I do love Kate Meader, she is a blast.

It was cool enough for an outdoor fire last week, but I swear I was tempted to put on the A/C yesterday. Crazy. Anyway, I've heard such mixed things about Into the Water, I've put it aside.

We've had a few hot days too. Cooler weather makes better reading time for me for some reason despite the fact that I spend little time outside. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Into the Water was one of the rare books I gave up on. I couldn't figure out what was going on.

I've heard similar things about Into the Water so I've decided to skip it. I'll wait for her next one :)
