Still Life With Tornado by A.S. King
A.S. King tells Sarah's story very uniquely. Sarah is struggling with a few things. Something that happened to her, something she sees and something her teacher says. She quits going to school and begins to wander around town trying to figure it out. Her 10 yr, 23 yr. and 40 yr. old self all make appearances to help her through this crisis. It turns out there is more to Sarah's story than she thinks (remembers) The story, heartbreaking and emotional is told slowly through exceptional writing. I always look forward to a new A.S. King book.
The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon
Daniel and Natasha meet while they are each on their way to an appointment that could change their lives. Daniel to a college interview, a college that he really isn't sure he wants to attend. Natasha is going to meet an attorney that may help stop her family's deportation. Their few hours together is told in alternating POVs and is funny, emotional, heartbreaking and very satisfying.

Katherine attends her sister's engagement party at Panic. She suffers an anxiety attack and passes out. Nico is the nightclub's owner and has been working to bring it back to being a legit business. He is unhappy to hear about a woman in the bathroom passed out. He judges her as a junkie and wants her out of his club. He helps her get home and finds himself thinking about her more than he wants. Katie makes an effort to thank Nico and explain what happened to her. They begin a tentative friendship that turns out to be a fantastic story. The author handles Katie's issue with sensitivity and authenticity. Both Aletha George and Joe Arden narrated their character's fear, struggle and determination wonderfully. I look forward to Matt's (Nico's brother) story next.
*Thanks to Tantor Audio for this review copy*Mr President by Katy Evans (audio)
Charlotte and Matthew grew up in politics. They met when they were young, Matt's dad was President and Charlotte's dad a Senator. In the years between, Matt's dad was killed. He is now running for President and asks Charlotte to be his campaign manager. She wants to be as professional as she can be, but when he returns the attraction it is hard to do so. They have great chemistry, but the goal is to get Matt elected so they back off and fight it Book one of two is a fast, sizzling romance that had me finding reasons to listen. Isabelle Gordon and John Lane did an excellent job with their characters. I look forward to listening to book two.

I'm curious about Still Life with Tornado...
Enjoy all of your books and your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I know you're glad to have the renovations done!
It's warm here now but it's supposed to be in the 60s at the end of the week which is weird because our neighborhood pool opens on Saturday.
I love A. S. King too. The Sun is Also a Star was great!
I'm so glad you enjoyed The Sun is Also a Star! I did too. :-)
I hope you get some spring weather soon! My cousin posted a photo of FB of the snow they got overnight. I can't believe it is still snowing in parts of the country.
I am so glad your renovation is finally done! Whew! What a relief that must be.
I hope you have a great week, Nise', and a wonderful May!
Glad your renovations are done! And yes- this rainy weather has to go, but we're stuck with it all week?? It just got done pouring over here. :)
Have a great week!
Must be great to have the renovation complete and the house to yourselves. I looked up Mr President on Audible - might wait till book 2 is published so no cliffhanger!
I adore the cover for The Sun is also a star, it really makes me want to read this book!
Good to see Never, Never on your pile this week. I am a huge fan of Candice Fox so it was great to see her collaborate with James Patterson. I hope you enjoy it!
I am adding Still Life with a Tornado to my wishlist. Saturday was my the junior to cadette bridging ceremony in San Francisco. My daughter and I are sore and sunburnt from our adventure but we had fun. Come see what I'm reading.
Mr. President looks good. You've got some great books Nise! Hope the week ahead is a good one for you!
Yay to the finished reno! And this rain. :( I'm ready for some nice weather.
The Sun is Also a Star sounds so good!
Have a great week. :)
We're getting rain too -- I really like the look of all the books you read this week.
Pull Me Close and Mr. President look really good. Have a great week!
Still Life was on my Top Reads of 2016. AS King is a genius when it comes to magical realism. I will read any book King writes.

We have the cold but thankfully not the rain. The AS King book looks good.
