Weekly Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

Distress Signals by Catherine Ryan Howard (audio)
Adam's girlfriend Sarah doesn't return from her business trip.  He receives her passport with a note that says I'm sorry. Adam does not understand what has happened.  When Sarah's girlfriend tells him that she was planning on leaving him and went on a cruise with another man, Adam is convinced that something happened because she would never leave her parents without telling them.  He sets out to find out what really happened. As he investigates the truth is revealed in layers that has you gasping. A dual story line is also happening that keeps you wondering how/if they are connected. Alan Smyth narrated Adam's confusion, desperation and determination brilliantly. Bronson Pinchot and Suzanne Toren narrates the dual story line that keep you just as invested as the major story going on to the heartbreaking end.  A superb listen that has me wanting to pick up this author's other works.

Hit The Spot by J. Daniels (audio) #2
Tori loves her waitress job at Whitecaps.  Jamie a local, famous surfer is a frequent patron and teases Tori.  He will do whatever he can to get her to go out with him.  She is not buying what he is selling.  Their banter is hilarious that both narrators Sebastian York and Kate Russell nail perfectly. Jamie makes a bet with her, and they both will do whatever it takes to win. The lengths they go to make for great reading/listening with laugh out loud moments. As they get to know each other can they overcome their stubbornness and give their chemistry a chance?  The books stands alone well, but you get to know them in the earlier book Four Letter Word.

Until It Fades by K.A. Tucker
Cath is working hard at the local diner to support herself and her 5 year old daughter. A few years ago Cath was the talk of the town after accusing a teacher of an inappropriate relationship. She has recanted and just want everyone to forget and move one.  Just when she decides to take a chance on a blind date (that goes terrible) she is thrust into the limelight after rescuing a NHL hockey player from a burning car. Brett wants to show how thankful he is for her saving his life. Cath is surprised when he keeps in contact and struggles with her attraction.  Could this be real or will it fade?  I enjoyed this Cinderella style story.  Cath's struggle was understandable, and I liked her cautious approach to Brett.

The Last Man Standing by David Baldacci #4 (audio)
Agent John Puller receives some startling news.  A former neighbor on the base he grew up on makes claims about his father John, Sr. that leads to an investigation of his mother's disappearance 30 years ago.  He doesn't remember much and wants to discover the truth.  There is a dual story of Paul Rogers. recently released from prison, making his way back to Virginia for a reckoning.  The two stories converge in an unputdownable story. More audio thoughts May 5th.

It was another week of great audio listening while being at home while contractors were busy putting our house back together.  It will be a couple of weeks yet, but there is progress. Easter Sunday started out cool and rainy, but after church the sun came out and it warmed up nicely. We were able to grill outside!

Yay for grilling out! Not a bad weekend all things considered. :)

Glad you liked Distress Signals, I did too, although I liked the Sarah storyline more (the other one kinda creeped me out a bit).

Distress Signals sounds good. My parents are getting their kitchen redone which affected my travel plans.

I'm back from my trip. It didn't turned out as planned but we had fun. Come see what we did and what I read.

All your books sound great. I looked for the Tucker book on Audible but not there for me, might be there later on so will keep an eye out. Like the sound of it.

Distress Signals and No Man Standing both sound fantastic! Until it Fades pretty good also. I'm more into the thriller, mystery genre but I can do romance too.

Come see what I've been reading and what I'll be reading: https://afoldinthespinesite.wordpress.com/

I am glad you had such a great holiday! We are planning on our first cook out of the season Saturday - one of the best parts of a Michigan summer! :)

I am glad the work on the house is coming along nicely. It sounds like you had a pleasant Easter! I am glad the weather turned for the better. It's supposed to be 90F today, can you believe it? It seems too soon for that.

I hope you have a great weekend!
