"If you reach the camp before me, I'll let you live," the Solider said. It was the same chance he allowed them all. The fairest judgment for their crimes against his people. The young man lay sniveling in the sand at his feet. Tears had always disgusted the Solider. They were the lowest from of expression, the physical symptom of psychological weakness. The Solider lifted his head and looked across the black desert to the camp's border lights. The dark sky was an explosion of stars, patched here and there by shifting cloud. He sucked cold desert air into his lungs.

I haven't read this author in a while, but this one does sound tempting. Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “THE ROANOKE GIRLS”
He wouldn't like me. I cry easily. LOL I hope you enjoy this one, Nise'!
This looks intense. I haven't tried a Patterson book before. Hope you enjoy!
Ooh yes that is an opener that begs you to turn the pages! Great choice
This must be Patterson's new detective series. I like the beginning and want to read more.
I didn't realize he had a new series. Sounds thrilling. And a new coauthor too!
My TT from Grilled, Chilled and Killed
Although I respect Patterson's mentoring of new authors, I just can't read any of his stuff - even stuff that he didn't really even write.
I haven't read a Patterson novel in years but, I am curious based on the intro. Hope it's a winner.
I'm not all that happy with that intro but I hope you enjoy this book
