Weekly Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

The Guests on South Battery by Karen White (#6)
Melanie has been on maternity leave after the birth of her twins, and is conflicted about going back to work at the real estate office.  She gets a great listing on South Battery.  The house of her mom's good friend has been left to a virtual stranger.  Jayne has no idea why she was left this house, has never liked old houses and is determined to sell it. Melanie's friend asks Jayne if she can go through the house for historical purposes. The delay gives them time to figure out why Jayne was given the house and search out the secrets. The time also helps Melanie realize that the gifts she had all her life are back and just were quiet while pregnant. A great installment in this series.

The Return by Erin Knightly (Bookshots)
Mack has come home to recuperate from an injury that could end his rodeo career.  When he finds out that a lucrative sponsor has cancelled his contract he goes to someone he knows can help. Ashley's uncle is the owner of the company and she has a request if she is going to do this favor for Mack.  She wants his help to get her dream of barrel racing started.  They have a history that is rekindled. An easy to read, enjoyable second chance story.

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch
Lina's mom has recently died of cancer. Her mom talked her into going to Florence for a summer and stay with a friend from years back. Lina adrift, decides to honor her mom's wish to go and meet this man she figures is her dad.  Howard is a caretaker of an WWII cemetery, which Lina thinks is weird, but is willing to stay. Sophie, another friend, gives her a journal that her mother send ahead of her.  As Lina reads the journal she follows in her mom's footsteps to find out what she didn't/couldn't/wouldn't tell Lina herself. She meets a neighbor boy Ren that helps her on this quest.  Sweet, charming, enjoyable read.

Dark Swan by Gena Showalter
Otherworld Assassins book three was the story of three sisters, Lilcia, Trinity and Jade who were used for research purposes until they used their powers to take control of their lives.  One sister was infected and spread the virus. Dallas has been hunting her, but finds Lilcia and they have differing goals regarding Trinity. Dallas is a character from the Alien Huntress series and is determined to stop the spread of this virus. They have to decide if they will work together or against each other. I liked the crossover of these two characters and am glad Dallas finally got his story.

The Operator by Kim Harrison (audio) #2
Second book in the Peri Reed Chronicles was non-stop action, a bit repetitive, but over all enjoyable.  More thoughts Friday.

Wanted and Wired by Vivien Jackson (#1)
Book one in a new sci-fi romance series. Mari is a kick-butt mercenary,  Heron, is a post-human and her partner.  Their last job is a set-up and they need to figure out who, what, where and why.  A good start.  More thoughts later in the month.

February's Wrap Up

Just found out that Les Miserables and Wicked will be touring in my area this fall!  Two of our favorites.  My granddaughter is just a few steps away from walking, always a fun milestone to watch.

You had a great reading week. That Tradd St series by Karen White is one I want to get into at some point. Sounds like the one you read was worth it.

I still need to try Tana French, and the operator looks kinda fun.

I really enjoyed The Guests on South Battery. I'm a huge Melanie/Jack fan and wasn't sure what to make of Jayne in the mix, but I wound up really liking her. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I read the first 2 books in the Tradd Street series and really liked them but for some reason never continued. It's been so long I wonder if it's too late to pick up at #3?
