I have a theory. Hating someone feels disturbingly similar to being in love with them. I've had a lot of time to compare love and hate, and these are my observations. Love and hate are visceral. Your stomach twists at the thought of that person. The heart in your chest beats heavy and bright, nearly visible through your flesh and clothes. Your appetite and sleep are shredded. Every interaction spikes your blood with a dangerous kind of adrenaline, and you're on the brink of fight or flight. Your body is barely under control. You're consumed, and it scares you.

It's great that I'm fulfilling a childhood dream. But if I'm honest, at the moment the main reason I don't get a new job is: I can't let Joshua win.

I actually own this one, but have not read it yet. Sounds like fun!
I have been eyeing this book...and I really like the comparison between love and hate in the physical reactions.
Enjoy! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
I'd continue reading... The snippets interest me, plus I've heard good things.
Intriguing opening. I like the author's description of the physical reactions to love and hate and her comparison of the two emotions. Sounds like a book I'd enjoy.

I'm very taken with this - I love a bit of competitiveness, even better when it's done with real hate haha
That's an interesting theory in the first paragraph. I'd keep reading to see how she carries it through.
I'd definitely keep reading this one. Thank you for sharing! Here's my teaser: Starling by Lesley Livingston
