Weekly Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis (#2)
Willa relates to the animals she takes care of on a daily basis. Men, not so much.  While working at her South Bark Mutt Shop in walks Keane Winters with a pink cat carrier.  His aunt has left him her kitty and he needs kitty daycare. Keane doesn't remember that he stood Willa up at a high school dance, and that makes Willa determined to avoid him.  She had a difficult upbringing and learned not to attach to anyone, but she does have good friends that have not let her down.  Keane is intrigued by this red head, but also has the same non-attachment attitude, but can't stop thinking about Willa.  Their path to romance is very bumpy and has a little help from her friends. Book two in the Heartbreaker Bay Series was fun, flirty, emotional with great characters.

A Lowcountry Christmas by Mary Alice Monroe (#5)
Ten year old Miller desperately wants a puppy for Christmas.  His friend's dog has just had a litter and he has already bonded with the one he wants.  His family is experiencing financial difficulties and has told him it just won't happen this year.  Devastated he waits for his brother Taylor to come home from the VA hospital with a heavy heart.  Taylor has been convalescing with PTSD and the time has come for him to go home. He struggles with being home and is surprised when his service dog shows up.  He forgot that he applied for one while in the hospital.  Miller, not understanding why and how this dog has come to the family, is angry and feels it is the worst Christmas ever. . A wonderful, heartwarming and satisfying novel.  Loved it.

The Vanishing Year by Kate Moretti  (audio)
Zoe is living a charmed life after her rough past.  She was in college when her mother dies, she has no money to bury her and takes a risky job to raise money.  She is pulled down into a dark and twisty world that she barely escapes. She moves across the country and soon meets her KISA Henry.  Strange things begin to happen and Zoe is sure her past has returned.  She at first tries to keep it from Henry, but when things heat up she needs to figure out what is happening. A fast paced thriller that was narrated by Madeleine Maby,  She does a great job with the pace of the novel and Zoe's confusion translates well. I had it figured out early, but it did not interfere with my enjoyment of this audiobook.

Bodes well for me that I will like the Heartbreaker series too. And I loved the Mary Alice Monroe book, perfect Christmas read. Audiobooks especially when they are good certainly fly by as you work.

I'm mostly ready for the holidays. :) Hard to believe only a week away. I hope the snow holds off a bit, I'll be traveling for the holidays.

The Vanishing Year sounds good, and so does French Kiss.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a great week!

I am not ready for Christmas at all. Still need to do some shopping but the weather isn't cooperating. I may just go with gift cards. :) I did get some holiday baking done today. I have a party Tuesday night and then Wednesday I leave for my parents' place for Christmas.

You have some interesting books on your list. I want to read the Jill Shalvis book and I'm intrigued by the Bookshots. I usually prefer full length novels but these look kind of good.

Hope you have a fantastic Christmas.

It sounds like you are organised for the holiday, only wrapping to go is good, listening to an audio is a great idea!

I still have present shopping to do but as we are camping on boxing day I don't have to host christmas this year.

I love the Mary Alice Monroe book, it looks like the perfect book for the festive period. The Vanishing Year catches my eye too.

Have a lovely week!

The big Christmas is done, but still need this week for Mom, Dad, Jason and Gage, lol. Oh, and his Dad might show up this week too, so I need to get to cleaning the guest bedroom. Which is where I do all of the wrapping. Fun week ahead!

Oh yes I guess audiobooks would be handy for times like that. I only have tended to listen to them when I'm driving.

I like the look of The Vanishing Year!

I hope you get everything wrapped and have a wonderful Christmas and new year. xx

I'm tempted by The Vanishing Year...and I always enjoy Mary Alice Monroe.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and even though you're hosting, be sure to have some fun, too. LOL.

I haven't hosted in many years....and I don't miss it! But it is fun to get the house ready for guests.

Enjoy your reading, or listening, and thanks for visiting my blog.

The two Christmas books look like I might enjoy them, but it's too late to order them now and expect them tu turn up before the holidays, so they'll go on next year's Christmas book list.
Happy holidays and happy reading!
