Weekly Reading Thoughts (SP/IMWAYR?)

City of the Lost by Kelly Armstrong
Casey Duncan agrees to move with her friend Diana to a town designed for those that need to disappear for awhile. There is an application process and since Casey is also a detective, she is approved to come. There has been an incident and the current Sheriff Eric Dalton needs help investigating. The towns people are suspicious of Casey, but she does her job that brings respect. When another body is found the investigation heats up. Secrets come to light that threaten many. A page turner with great characters. I hope these characters return.

A Bravo For Christmas by Christine Rimmer
A fun Christmas read.  Read full post here

Deep Dark by Laura Griffin (#10)

A young woman is found murdered and Det. Reed Novak is the lead investigator. The evidence is sparse and when it leads to the girl's online habits, Reed meets Laney, a hacker for Delphi Center.  She realizes how similar this girls death was to her own attack three years ago and begins her own investigation.  Reed and Laney have chemistry, but with their age difference he is reluctant to pursue her. Laney takes the reins in that area and it makes for a great read. The investigation leads to other deaths and they have to connect the dots quickly.  I enjoyed the "hacking" aspect of the novel especially since it was easily understandable.  I came to this series late and have loved every book I've read so far.

A Scot In The Dark by Sarah MacLean (#2)
Lillian thought she found a man to love and spend the rest of her life with. An artist sweet talks her into posing nude supposedly promising her that it would be for them only. When he announces his next greatest work is a nude like no other, she realizes she has been ruined. The unveiling of the painting is coming soon and escape is her only option, but she needs her trust money.  When the newest Duke of Warnick, her guardian (even though she is of age) hears about this scandal, he returns to England to get her married and get back to Scotland and ignore the rest of his Ducal duties. He fights his attraction to Lily because of his position and his past. I loved Lily's independent spirit. Alec was frustrating until learning his "secret". Their path to HEA was an enjoyable read.

A Bravo For Christmas by Christine Rimmer

Going away for a short trip at the beginning of December helped me get my Christmas shopping almost finished.  I may have to plan this every year!  Spending a week in Florida with my mom as well as meeting my newest grand niece. It is also nice that I am not home for the first snowfall of the year.

Florida is always a good choice. :) And glad you liked City of the Lost. I did too, and I think (?) there's a sequel coming?

City of the Lost as well as Deep Dark looks like good thrillers. I will have to add these to my list. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!

A Scot in the Dark sounds like a fun read. Sounds like you had a nice time in Florida. It would be hard to come back to cold weather after that! I am really behind on my Christmas preparations this year. It just kind of sneaked up on me.

I read, and enjoyed, City of the Lost and Deep Dark. My second Kelley Armstrong, but I'm a big reader of Laura Griffin. She's the queen of romantic suspense for me :)
Enjoy your time away (or are you back now?) Anyway, glad you got to take a trip and visit family.

Lovely getaway! I've been having a hard time finding time to read print lately. Hoping things will settle down soon.

I have Deep Dark, and your thoughts reminded me that I want to read it sooner rather than later.

Enjoy your week, and it sounds wonderful that the trip helped you get your shopping finished.

I've been wanting to try Armstrong and would prefer a standalone. Looks good!
