Invincible Summer by Alice Adams (audio)
Invincible Summer follows Eva, Benedict, Sylvie and Lucien from college into the real world for twenty years. The carefree days of college quickly end for a couple of the friends, while they are extended only for a bit for others. This character driven debut novel was narrated by Georgia Dolenz. If I had been reading, I may have put aside this book as I didn't connect to the characters but Georgia's narration kept me listening.

Tess and Harry are new to the neighborhood and we know there is a reason. The author does a great job of reeling us in as the reason slowly unfolds and we get to know the other neighbors Gigi, Kelly, and Susan. Each with secrets that may or may not threaten their current way of life. Each chapter begins with the emails that deal with the community's concerns, gripes and observations that added much to the story. The ending was a bit anticlimactic, but still a entertaining listen. Madeleine Maby did a great job narrating this story.

High school student Nanette gets good grades, plays excellent soccer, but feels out of place. Her favorite teacher gives her an out of print, cult hit, book entitled "The Bubblegum Reaper" that she loves, but has lingering questions about. When she learns the author lives nearby shes writes him a letter that leads to life changing events that are heartbreakingly raw, real and for many relateable. Brilliantly narrated by Vanessa Johansson. I look forward to this author's next book.

Win is on the trail of two sixteen year old boys that disappeared ten years ago. He received an anonymous email of a sighting and is in London to investigate. Win is a bad ass and while he gets himself into crazy situations, he gets himself right out. When the rescue goes wrong he calls his best friend Myron to help him. They rescue one of the boys, but things don't add up for Myron and Win. As they go back to the beginning to figure out how, why, and who the suspense, drama and action ramps up with a couple of twists that make this a spectacular read. It was so hard not to speed through this book! It was unputdownable for me, I loved that it Win's voice told part of the story. This book is part of the Myron Bolitar series, but does stand alone well. Do yourself a favor and go back to the beginning, you won't be sorry!

Annie takes her little brother fishing one afternoon and sees a group of three men shooting another man. They run and accept a ride with a neighbor only to find out he cannot be trusted, and have to run again. Finding a safe place to hide is a challenge. The men are new in town and are able to insert themselves in the police department to keep tabs on the missing kids. Can the rancher be trusted with what Annie and William are telling him? The townspeople are connected in surprising ways in this page turning thriller. This book was on an award winners display at the library and I am glad I picked it up.
October has arrived already! Finally we are seeing blue skies after days of rain - which helped me get some projects done at work and at home while I listened to three good audios! The new fall TV season has got off to a good start. Have you found any new favorite shows?

Nice mixed bunch of reads. Enjoy them all.
I liked Perfect Neighbors too.
I haven't started watching any fall shows yet. I mostly watch PBS and some shows on the CW.
Hope you have a great week!

My It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
I really want to read Home, so must buy it or borrow it or similar. The local publishers aren't big distributors of overseas titles so it's even hard to get via NG.
I think there are two books out at the moment with 'Neighbours' in the title cos I've been eyeing off one which seems to be a thriller!!!
Blue Heaven and The Perfect Neighbors both sound good. I've seen Neighbors around a bit and I'm curious... and Blue Heaven sounds chilling!
I started watching How To Get Away With Murder on Netflix and watched Westworld on HBO tonight. Other than that not too many new shows...
I noticed your review of Invincible Summer on Goodreads and liked the review - but won't be reading the book! Nice to see some sunshine, I don't know but it just makes such a difference after rain.
Getting stuff done while listening to audiobooks is the best. I do that too.
Good reading this week. I know what you mean about sometimes a good narrator will keep me listening, even if I'm not all that into the story/plot/characters.
I loved the movie version of Silver Linings Playbook and really need to try one of Quick's books. They sound so good to me.
I've been on the waiting list for Perfect Neighbors forever! :( I am glad you enjoyed it!
This weather is so nice - yay for fall!
My husband and I have watched The Good Place a few times, and we like it. It's just a little sitcom, quick and funny, which sometimes is needed. A little pick-me-up. Lol.
Have a great week!
I loved The Perfect Neighbors...and I've been eyeing Home. Enjoy your week, and thanks for sharing. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I have the Pekkanan book on my kindle to read. I love Cohen but couldn't connect with the sports agent premise in the first two Bolitar titles. Maybe I'll just skip to one of the newer ones. Thanks for your thoughts this week...
Blue Heaven sounds good. I loved Home and decided that I did need to catch up on the whole series. I think I've only read book 1. I have read the Mickey Bolitar series though. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Invincible Summer sounds good. I will be taking a deeper look at this one.
Some good books there! I love Harlan Coben and I haven't read him in a while. This one sounds great.
My TV watching has dropped into oblivion I'm afraid. I watch knitting podcasts now. What a great week of reading you had this week. I had a good one as well.
I have read a lot of great reviews for Every Exquisite Thing. Have a fabulous week. :)
What a great mix of genres you have in your book haul this week. I have a couple of books by Sarah Pekkanen on my TBR shelf but not The Peefect Neighbours, would be interested in your thoughts.
Have a great reading week!
