Weekly Reading Thoughts (SP/IMWAYR?)

Daughter's of the Bride by Susan Mallery
Maggie is getting married and her three daughters, Sienna, Rachel, Courtney are happily involved.  Each daughter is struggling with an issue that is primarily the novel's subject.  Sienna just got engaged, by accident? Rachel's ex-husband seems to becoming the man she wanted him to be 3 years ago.  Courtney is hiding her education, letting her family think she is still a screw-up. While they all are excited to help their mom plan this wedding and  keep it from getting out of control, they will have to deal with their past, secrets and hopefully find the love their mom has found.  I really liked Courtney, but found Sienna's story a bit on the fringe with a quick resolution.  Rachel's personality while understandable was annoying, but I did want her to figure things out.  As always, Susan Mallery delivers a good story.

Potent Pleasures by Eloisa James (audio)#1
Charlotte made a rash decision seven years ago as a young girl. Years later she meets Alex again and he doesn't remember her, but is intrigued by her as she seems to be everything he is looking for in a wife. Once married he discovers she kept a secret and will not listen to any explanation, but decides he want to make the marriage work.  When he has to leave to help rescue a friend's sister, he is gone longer than expected.  Returning he discovers things are not has he left them and jumps to conclusions that are all wrong.  Alex is a hard character to like with his rash judgments.  Charlotte was very patient when I would have given up long ago.  A decent first novel by a favorite author narrated by the always wonderful Susan Duerden.

Working 60 hours when not used to more than 20 does not leave any time for reading or listening, just SLEEP! I plan on this being a low key week of relaxing, reading and rejuvenation before leaving on vacay Thursday.

Up Next:
Little Girl Gone by Gerry Schmidt
Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas
Blood Defense by Marcia Clark

Wow working 60 hrs, that must have been exhausting. I enjoyed the Susan M book too. I must look out for the narrator Susan Duerden.

Those are long weeks! Enjoy your vacation, and whatever books you take with you. I have Blood Defense and hope to get to it sooner rather than later.

I am curious about Little Girl Gone.

Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

I haven't read Susan Mallary in so long, but I loved everything I've read from her. I can't wait to see what you think of Little Girl Gone and Blood Defense.

Working sixty hours in general can be exhausting. I can imagine you are more than ready for that vacation! I hope to give Susan Mallery a try one of these days. I hope you have a great week!

As someone with similar health issues I can't imagine working 60 hours a week! I hope that you have a great, and relaxing, time and read some fun books. I did read Blood Defense and Little Girl Gone and really liked them.

OH Nise' a 60hr week does not sound like fun! I had my first week back at work after a couple of weeks off and struggled - was in bed early on two occasions... the last night at 6pm!

Sorry I'm late this week. Have been spectacularly disorganised!

Too funny! As I did my July 2010 post today I saw that I had read my first Eloisa James, Potent Pleasures. While it was good it took me a long time to give her another try. She's gotten so much better! Have a great vacation :)
