Devil and the Deep by Julie Ann Walker #2
A group of retired (semi) Navy SEALS got together and operate a marine salvage operation. They are also on a quest to find a sunken treasure. This story line took a back seat in this book. Bran and Maddie have been having a long distance email flirt thing going on after they met when Maddie was rescued by Bran's team. Well, it is more for Maddie than Bran. Maddie is a trust fund baby putting her wealth towards good causes. She takes a group of scholarship students on a weekend when things go bad again. A group attempts to kidnap Maddie for ransom and fortunately Bran and friends are not too far away and come to the rescue. It doesn't go as easy as planned and it is here where the action picks up. Bran has a reason he doesn't want to be involved, and Maddie does her best to get him to take a chance on her. This second book got off to a slow start, picked up in the middle and then ended with a whimper. After loving the first book this was a bit of disappointment, but I will read the next book in the Deep Six series.

Jack Swyteck rents office space from his former employer, the Freedom Institute. He is asked to help out on a death row case when the mom of the dead girl claims she has been getting calls from her. Debra is sure that her daughter Sashi is still alive. She isn't necessarily wanting to help Jack get his client a stay of execution, but cooperates in order to get attention back on the search for her daughter. Twists and turns take Jack all over in a search for the truth all the while being concerned about his pregnant wife Andie who is close to her due date but experiencing some complications. Jonathan Davis does an excellent job narrating.
Cross Kill by James Patterson (Bookshot Audio) #23.5
A fast-paced audio novella finds Alex Cross and his partner John Samson serving the community together when shots ring out and John is shot. What's more shocking to Alex is that he is sure his former nemesis, whom he killed, Gary Soneji is the shooter. While he is frantic about his partner he is determined to find this Gary Soneji. As he searches he finds our more than he ever wanted to about this killer and the reveal is just a twisted as Gary. A great listen narrated by Ruben Santiago-Hudson.
*Thank to Mitch and Hachette Audio for this review copy*When the Duke Returns by Eloisa James (audio) #4
Lady Isadore was married by proxy to Simeon 12 years ago. She has faithfully waited for him spurning the advances of others. Simeon finally is returning home and Isadore is ready to begin their marriage. He is expecting a totally different woman than the one he encounters which makes for some hilarity as they get to know each other. It takes awhile to find their way with each other, but a delight to read how it happens. The secondary characters are just as loveable. Susan Duerden once again does a fantastic job narrating the voices of these characters.
Up Next:
Daughters of the Bride by Susan Mallery
Signal by Patrick Lee
Lady Pirate by Lynsay Sands (audio)
Ten Things I Love About You by Julia Quinn (audio)
It will be another week of mostly audio as I spend more time than usual working. Last week was full of celebrations that gave us more time as a family which is always a pleasure.

I've never listened to much audio although it does seem like it would be a good way to get through more books.
We were in Grand Haven this weekend, went out to dinner and walked around town a bit. It was cold though (we were there Fri night).
Have a great week!
Your books are all new to me. I have also not gone the audio route but should try as it seems a very practical way of getting two things done at the same time!
You know, I have never read Eloisa James. However, I do have one of her books (I'm not sure which one) on my TBR shelf,so maybe soon! I think I won it in a giveaway....
I enjoyed Daughters of the Bride so hope you do. I listened to Ten Things I Love About You a good while ago - I think I enjoyed it!
I haven't read any of those books, although most of them seem interesting. Definitely added some to my ever-growing TBR list. Thanks for sharing!
I've been wondering what James Patterson's Bookshots are like - glad you enjoyed the listen!
Glad you enjoyed the big week of celebrations... always good to spend time with family. Enjoy the audios this week :)
The Eloisa James book sounds like fun. I really liked Ten Things I Love About You. That was the second Julia Quinn book I read. I hadn't heard of James Patterson's BookShots but then I saw a couple of romances ones in the book section at Wal-Mart. The suspense makes sense as a way to promote up and coming suspense writers but promoting romance writers seems kind of odd. I could see Nicholas Sparks or Danielle Steel doing that.
Hope you have a great week!
Alex Cross has to be getting up in years. I do enjoy that series by Patterson.
another great week.
I also enjoyed Signal by Patrick Lee, and the first title in this series, also.
I always say I'm going to start the Grippando series and then it slips away. I need to check it out. Have a great reading week.
Gone Again looks interesting. I hope you enjoy all of your books, and have a great week. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Nice assortment of books. I really should devote some time to listening to some of the many audiobooks on my stack. But I read so much faster than I listen. Come see my reading week here. Happy reading!
I'm not really familiar with the books that you got this week. Well except for the Cross series by James Patterson. I hope you have a great week!
