Weekly Reading Thoughts (SP/IMWAYR?)

Poisonous by Allison Brennan (#3)
Maxine "Max" Revere is the host of the cable show, Maximum Exposure" that focuses on unsolved crimes. Max is very discerning about the cases she accepts.  Max receives an intriguingly written letter from Tommy asking that she come and figure out who killed his step-sister so he won't be blamed.  As she investigates further, the details of  teenager Ivy's death - the lack of evidence, what she was doing on a cliff in the middle of the night, and Ivy's reputation as a cyber gossip/bully help her decide to travel to this small town and begin her own investigation. She finds more opposition than cooperation which intrigues her further. As the truth is uncovered she is not sure if it will help or hurt/hinder those involved.  A good crime novel with characters that aren't always easy to like lend to a page turning story with a surprise ending. This is book three in the series and even though the book stands alone, some of what is happening with the secondary characters will not be fully understood.

The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith (audio)
Eden's story unfortunately happens too often, but is one that needs to be told especially if it gives courage to those that need to speak up. This debut novel was narrated by Rebekkah Ross.  Full thoughts later this week.

Let's Go To Sleep by Maisie Reade (audio)
Mama Bird is helping the sleepy forest friends go to sleep.  Certain words are rhymed, whispered and/or drawn out to help calm and relax.  Deep breaths are encouraged along with yawns. My grandson is a bit too young to follow along with the prompts, but he did like listening to Robert Petkoff narrate the story. Tavia Gilbert also narrates the same story so you can choose between narrators.  I would say Cole preferred Robert's narration as it kept him still and listening. Since we listened I can't speak to the illustrations.  I will use this audio again when the grand kids sleep over!
*Thanks to Mitch and Hachette Audio for this review copy*

A slower reading (print) week for me.  I did listen to some great audios that I've almost finished.
June is here already. Our first weekend of the month was a bit cool with a little rain.

We had hot weather here though we did get a little rain.

I've got The Way I Used to Be checked out from the library. I also have Exit, Pursued by a Bear. A sad but important topic.

Hope you have a great week!

Today was quite cool here although it got sunny in the afternoon. I imagine it might have been even cooler over by you guys? Hope you're having a good weekend- I think Poisonous sounds good, I'm curious about the mystery now!

Ohhhh.... I really want to read Poisonous!

It's finally cool here Nise' - winter has arrived. At last! Though we've had some storms as well, which haven't been pleasant and aren't typical for our winters!

We have had rain but it has not helped with the humidity and the heat. Horrible to be sweating like this.

Saturday was gorgeous here... we took the boat out for the first time. But Sunday it rained all day long and was very cool. I smile when you say three print books is a slow week. I'm trying to recall if I have ever finished 3 books in a week ;-)

That audiobook for kids sounds like a nice bedtime story. And that's great your grandson enjoyed it even if he was a bit too young to follow the prompts.
The Way I used to be sounds like a difficult to read book, but well written. Have a great week!
