Tuesday Intro/Teaser

First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros is a weekly meme hosted by Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea every Tuesday. To participate share the opening paragraph or two of a book you've decided to read based on that paragraph. Please feel free to join in, First Chapter~First Paragraph~Tuesday Intros.

Prologue

Thirty-two hours of my life are missing. My best friend Lydia, tells me to imagine those hours like old clothes in the back of a dark closet. Shut my eyes. Open the door. Move things around. Search. The things I do remember, I'd rather not. Four freckles. Eyes that aren't black but blue, wide open, two inches from mine. Insects gnawing into a smooth, soft cheek. The grit of the earth in my teeth. Those parts, I remember. It's my seventeenth birthday, and the candles on my cake are burning.

Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn/ MizB of A Daily Rhythm and hosted at Books and A Beat

I am the star of screaming tabloid headlines and campfire ghost stories. I am one of the four Black-Eyed Susans. The lucky one.

Sounds intense! I'd keep reading to find out if she ever remembered more about what must have been a terrifying event.
My Tuesday post features a mystery thriller: THE SHADOW CARTEL.

Sounds awesome, I need to see if the library has this one.

The opening is very gritty, but somehow compelling for me. I want to read more.

I have read, and loved, this book last year. I would keep reading if I was you, and I do recommend it. I read some mixed reviews here and there, but I think that you would enjoy it too.
