The Blue By Lucy Clarke
Lana has learned that her father kept an important secret from her and she just wants to get away. Her friend Kitty accompanies her to the Philippines where they meet up with a group of people traveling on a yacht. They are invited to join the crew. The trip starts out to be idyllic, but soon personalities, secrets and lies begin to surface. When one of the crew goes missing the suspicions surface and Lana is determined to find the truth. Told mostly in Lana's voice in "Then" and "Now" chapters the suspense builds with a resolution that is surprising.
The Opposite of Everyone by Joshilyn Jackson
Paula aka Kai's upbringing by a free-spirit mother and a short stay in foster care while her mom was in jail prepared her for a job as cutthroat divorce attorney. When the monthly check she sends to her mother is returned with a puzzling note she asks her PI to try to find her. The author does a great job weaving Paula's past with what is happening in the present. Weaved throughout the story is Hindu mythology. If you are unfamiliar with it or it seems weird, stick with it, I promise if you will be rewarded in the end. This is an automatic author for me and I try to go into every story not knowing too much of the plot knowing what follows will be wonderful.
The Railwayman's Wife by Ashley Hay
Annika, Frank and Roy are the three main characters of this story. Each one of them has experienced life altering circumstances and are trying to find their way back. We feel their pain, frustration and grief. Their losses are revealed as the past is told in each of the character's voices. Beautifully written, lovely setting, but I had to read this story in short doses because of its sadness. Even though I was disappointed with the ending, it was not unrealistic.
*Thanks to Mirtha Pena and Atria Books for this review copy*Tall, Dark and Wicked by Madeline Hunter (#2)
Padua is frustrated that her father, who has been accused of a crime and is in jail, will not speak in his defense. He won't speak at all when she visits him. At the end of her rope she visits Ives, and begs him to help her father. Ives has a reputation getting to the truth, but unfortunately he is tasked with prosecuting this crime. When Ives finds himself attracted to Padua, which is all kinds of complicated, he realizes they've got to find out who set her father up and why. Pauda does hire another lawyer that uncovers information that helps in the mystery of who, when and why. This second book in the Wicked trilogy is fast paced with great characters.
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks (audio)
Unfortunately even a favorite could not change the way I feel about this author's books. After surrendering my emotions to his characters and then getting them stomped upon, I've been unable to allow it to happen again. I did like Travis, but did not like Abby at all for a variety of reasons. Therefore Travis' decision did not tug at my heartstrings

The first day of Spring brought lots of sunshine but very cold temps. Spent quite a bit of time with these precious ones. Hard to believe Nora is 1 month old!

Happy Spring, 'Nise! Those little ones are so cute!
I have some of these books on my TBR stay but you know how it goes, too many books and not enough time. Have a great week ahead.
Beautiful g-kids! Are they brother and sister? They look very much alike facially.
I read the Deb Caletti one last year. I want to read The Blue and any Joshilyn Jackson books. Glad to hear you enjoy her.
I've got to get my hands on The Opposite of Everyone. Your grandkids are adorable!
those babies are adorable. You had a great reading week.
Rita, they are cousins. Cole is my daughter's son and Nora is my son's daughter. Say that fast three times!
It was a beautiful day but yes, cold. I saw the sun out and went outside and I was like, yikes.
I hope you liked The Blue, I haven't seen very many reviews in the blogosphere so it's nice to see someone else who read it. I enjoyed it and may try more of her books.
The Opposite of Everyone sounds interesting...different from my usual reading but I think I would like it. The Blue looks good too.
Those two little ones are adorable.
Happy Reading!
Such cute photos!!!
A few interesting books in your piles this week Nise' but I note that Be Frank With Me is on your list to read. I LOVED that book. It's hard to explain why, so I hope you enjoy it!

I know don't they grow so quick, I am sure Nora is bringing much joy. I want to read the J Jackson book and by audio, sounds like that could be challenging so thanks for the recommendation about hanging in with the mythology.
It's been cold here too but I believe it will warm up later this week to more spring like weather.
The Blue sounds pretty good and I might check out the Joshilyn Jackson book from the library. I think I'll skip the Nicholas Sparks.
Hope you have a great week!
The Blue sounds most intriguing to me. Enjoy reading this week!
My It's Monday! What Are You Reading? post.

I loved The Opposite of Everyone...and I also hope to love Be Frank With Me. Enjoy your books and babies....here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
We had our springlike temps snatched way, too. It was 15° Saturday night! It is getting warmer again though, but not at night. I would love to be able to turn our steam boiler off, but not until night temps stay in the higher 40s. Your little ones are precious! Have a wonderful week. :)
Looking forward to your thoughts on the Choice. Time flies with babies! Hope your weather warms up soon.
Those are adorable pictures! They do grew up too fast.
You read a nice variety of books. I've only read one Nicholas Sparks book and I just thought it was ok. So many of his is made into a movie so I figure I just wait to rent them lol.
I hope you have a nice week!
The babies stole the show. Hope spring brings even greater book reads for you.
