Weekly Wrap-Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

The Friends We Keep by Susan Mallery (#2)
The story centers around three friends in Mischief Bay.  Nicole, a newly single mother, struggling with an ex that wants nothing to do with their son.  Her son Travis loves the children's book Brad the Dinosaur, Nicole hates the commercialism of it all.  When they meet the author, her views change. But will she face her fear and take a chance on a new relationship? Gabby's twins are five years old and beginning kindergarten.  She is excited to go back to work.  When her husband 15 year old daughter gets pregnant, the expectations placed on her are difficult. Can Gabby stand up for herself and be supportive of her husband?  Hayley has been trying for years to get pregnant, and with the last miscarriage, her doctor tells her she needs a hysterectomy.  She is not ready to give up the dream and comes up with a plan to get the money for a treatment in Sweden.  Her husband Rob is not going along with the plan. Will Hayley's secrets risk her life?  These women support and love each other through their life challenges and relationships. Looking forward to what happens next in this California town.

Quantum Trilogy by M.S. Force
Natalie and Flynn  meet when her dog bites him.  She is walking the dog in the park where Flynn is shooting a movie.  He is a famous hot actor and she is a school teacher.  He is intrigued by her, she is not impressed with his fame. They both are keeping secrets - his is a secret lifestyle and her is her past.  As they get to know each other they open up to a point.  Each secret is revealed in ways that could devastate their relationship.  Will they survive?  Their story is told in three books Virtuous, Valorous, Victorious in the characters alternating voices.  I am glad that I had all three books because 1 and 2 end with cliffhangers.  All three books do need to be read in order.

Blood of My Blood by Barry Lyga (#3)
This book picks up right where Game left off.  Jasper (Jazz) and Howie are all left for dead in their search for Billy (Jazz's dad). Billy has kidnapped Jazz's girlfriend Connie.  Ever since his dad escaped from prison Jazz knows he is going to have to get involved and help get his dad back in prison. As a child Billy "taught" him all he could of his twisted world, and he knows that he will have to use it to outwit his dad. His dad is determined that Jazz pick up the family legacy, but he will do what he can to make sure it doesn't. The twists that come will put Jazz to the ultimate test.  How will he come through it?  A dark, twisty, but satisfying conclusion to the I Hunt Killers trilogy.

Fighting Dirty by Lori Foster (#3)

Bad boy Armie has been avoiding his best friend's sister Merissa for years and she is not having it any more!  Armie is in training for a very big fight but has a secret past that could not only ruin him, but jeopardize any chance he has with Merissa.  What he doesn't know is that Merissa and Cannon accept him for the decent, caring, loyal man he has always been.  When Merissa's life is endangered Armie's carefully controlled passion for Merissa is crumbling, and Merissa realizes now is the time to fight dirty for him. Armie became a favorite character since book one and his story was well worth the wait! With humor, romance, and a little bit of suspense the author brings this series to a great conclusion.

Tiny Little Thing by Beatriz Williams (#2)

Christina "Tiny" has always been the good girl, done the right thing for everyone but herself. She is the wife of an up and coming politician,  Prior to her marriage she almost did something out of character.  Now two years later she is recovering from her second miscarriage, and when her past shows up it could threaten everything she's denied herself or it could cause her to finally stand up for herself.  Which will she choose?  Told in Tiny's voice in 1966 alternating with Caspian's in 1964 as both stories come together the tension builds to a great ending. . It was easy to like Tiny and want her to stand up for herself.  Her sister Pepper made quite an impression and has her own story in Along the Infinite Sea.

January Wrap-Up

We attended a great event this weekend. The downtown store windows featured book characters "frozen in time"  Twenty-two stores had people of all ages freeze framed and we had to guess which book the vignette was from.  My daughter joked that they better not have 50 Shades since this is a family event.  They did!  Glad it wasn't too cold, snowy or windy for this event.

Wow Nise' the "Frozen in Time" event sounds great! So much fun and I've not heard anything like it before.

I was looking at your pic closely to see if it featured the 50 Shades characters!

I would love to have seen the store windows featuring book characters. How cool is that?! It sounds wonderful.

Tiny Little Thing sounds like a good one. The time period and the character of Tiny and Pepper. I will have to look for that one.

I hope you have a great week, Nise'!

That downtown event sounds like so much fun! How many did you guess correctly? I love Beatriz Williams' writing and need to read more of her work.

I love the sound of that book window event. So how long did the people have to 'freeze'? And how many did you guess? Inquiring minds want to know. After all, you're one of the 'top' guessers on Stacy's quizzes. LOL

I think I'll like that Mallery series, set in a small California town. Thanks for the tip.
And how fun was that downtown event, lol? I love the idea of it!

I'm delighted when bookstores do something to draw in more customers...I don't want to see bookstores die completely, even though we've lost several here (and everywhere). We still have Barnes & Noble, but I miss the small bookstores.

Tiny Little Thing looks like a book I would enjoy. Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
