Weekly Reading Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

Dream House by Catherine Armsden
Gina and her sister are cleaning out their childhood home after the death of their parents. When Gina returns home she can't seem to settle back into her life as a wife, mother and architect.  She begins to fall apart and decides to return to her hometown and take a look at her life in this house. Memories, both good and bad surface to tell Gina's story.. She begins to reconcile her relationship with her mother and discovers the life she has always wanted. A well written debut.

I Kissed A Rogue by Shana Galen (#3)
Lady Lila was a selfish young lady and when she spurned Brook's proposal a few year ago, he swore never to put himself in a vulnerable position again.  Lila is kidnapped and when she is escaping sees something she shouldn't her life is in danger. Her father seeks out Sir Brook, now a renowned investigator, to help find her.  This spoiled, selfish girl is the last person he wants to rescue.  Once he finds her with the help of Gideon they learn that she is still in danger and they need a place to hind until the criminal can be caught.  Of course the only way to protect her is to marry her and then go into hiding with her.  Brook is promised an annulment if he keeps her safe.  When they hide out in a cottage owned by the family Brook begins to learn that Lila is not the same girl. Lila was hard to like at first and it was great to see her grow despite her circumstances.  Lila strives to show Brook that she is changed and worthy of his love. Loved Brook immediately and wanted Lila to deserve him. Plenty of action trying to stay on step ahead of the criminals with a surprising twist at the end.

Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Ed Tarkington (audio)
Richard "Rocky" has worshipped his older brother much to his mother's frustration.  She sees his half brother as a bad influence that Paul cements when he leaves 8 year old Rocky alone in a park at night after giving him beer and cigarettes.  When Paul and his girlfriend Leigh disappear the next day Rocky is on his own to navigate growing up. This story is of Rocky's life with his dysfunctional family and the neighbors next door that figure prominently in their lives.  Leigh returns, Rocky gets a job at the neighbors (a disaster), Rocky tells a secret that wrecks lives, Paul returns, a murder happens and through it all you care for these characters and want to know if any of them can survive what happens.  A wonderful debut narrated expertly by Peter Berkrot.

Congratulations on the new granddaughter!

I am curious about the historical romance and I might read the new Jill Shslvis though I was disappointed with the last one in the series (I liked the first book more at least). The third book looks better and I liked the excerpt I read.

Oh some nice reads this week. I read Corrupted I think, but didn't see it on any review lists and borrowed it from the local library instead. I like Lisa Scottoline!
