Weekly Wrap Up (SP/IMWAYR?)

The Burned Bridges of Ward, Nebraska by Eileen Curtright
Becky is a single mom celebrating her partnership in a fertility clinic and is sure things are looking up.  Her sister and others are sure it is just a matter of time before she will screw-ups as usual.  When she tries to prove them wrong the trouble starts. First a man from her past is back in town, then her partner begins behaving strangely and then her son Marshall gets in trouble at school. This short novel is a quick, funny read.

Perfect Touch by Elizabeth Lowell
Sara is an art dealer and has been helping rancher Jay with his collection of art that has been subject of a lawsuit that is finally being decided  She travels to Wyoming for the decision, and hopefully if it goes Jay's way he will contract with her to sell the art.  They have only talked to each other on the phone.  When they meet sparks fly, but battle is not over.  When Jay's caretaker's are murdered the stakes just got higher.  As they rush to protect the artwork, their lives are in danger.  When the murderer is uncovered, will their love survive?  Fast paced with plenty of action and romance.  An enjoyable read.

You and Only You by Sharon Sala
LilyAnn has been living in a fog since her fiance died in Iraq.  Her long time neighbor Mike has been in love with her for years, and is waiting for her to notice.  It takes a new, handsome guy coming to town to wake LilyAnn up and make some changes.  While Mike is happy LilyAnn is making some changes, he fears it won't be him she noticed.  Everyone knows they belong together, and Ruby, the owner of The Curl Up And Dye decides to meddle a little bit. LilyAnn's spunk comes out as she makes changes.  Mike decides she needs a bit of a push and invites a lady to attend her Thanksgiving dinner.  Sparks fly and it was fun to watch them work it out.  Love this small town and hope there are more books in the series.

Missing Pieces by Heather Gudenkauf
Sarah accompanies her husband Jack on a trip to his hometown after his Aunt Julia is seriously injured in a fall.  Aunt Julia is in a coma and shortly after they arrive she dies.  Jack's sister Amy is arrested for pushing her Aunt Julia.  Sarah soon discovers that everything Jack has told her about his life in Penny Gate and his parents accident is a lie.  Evidence points to Amy and as the secrets of the past come out, it also points to Jack. Sarah's background in investigative reporting pushes her to find out everything she can and it puts her in danger.  While the suspects are few, it kept me guessing to the end.  Not as great as her other books, but a solid read.

Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover
A novella featuring the characters Warren and Bridgette from Maybe Someday.  We learn their backgrounds and how they became to be roommates and maybe a couple. Best if read along with Maybe Someday

Beautiful Bastard by Christine Lauren
This fan fiction had me laughing more with each outrageous chapter.  Chloe is an intern with a horrible boss that is gorgeous. She just wants to finish her MBA and move on.  There is something about his sharp, hardworking intern that gets under his skin.  When he decides to do something about it the sparks fly.  A total fluff read.

I want to read Missing Pieces. Sorry to hear it isn't as good as some of her others. The Susan Mallery book also sounds good.

Hope you have a great week!

I loved Missing Pieces, and it was different from her other books...but it kept me engaged throughout.

I need to decide the order in which to buy and read the Colleen Hoover books. I guess I should go to the author's page and plan it, right?

Thanks for sharing...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

Ooh, a granddaughter coming-- I didn't know that, you must be over the moon with joy! Your little guy seems very personable and cute from what I've seen and heard about him.
I might read that Elizabeth Lowell, have read a book by her before, and too bad the Heather Gudenkauf wasn't a stronger plot, but I have read all of hers and enjoy them, so will check the library for this one, thanks!

I'm currently reading a Heather Gudenkauf books, although an older title. I'm keen to discover some of her new work though.

I hope February proves to be just as good a reading month for you.

I just reviewed Missing Pieces today and someone else commented that it wasn't as good as her other books. (This was the first I'd read!)

And the Elizabeth Lowell caught my eye as I didn't know she had a new one out. (Am trying to remember if she writes a series...)

January was a great month for me also, I am so pleased to be back.

I agree Missing Pieces was a solid read but not at the same level as her others, still a favourite author for me.
