On His Watch by Katie Ruggle (#0.5)
Prequel novella to the new Search and Rescue series. Derek has to speak to a group of third and fourth graders because of a prank he pulled on his boss. The kids are disinterested in his job in search and rescue. Twins Zoe and Maya are arguing with a fellow classmate and dare him to walk out on the ice. He does and now Derek has their attention in the worst way. After the rescue is over they discover that the twin girls are missing and the search begins. His partner is the teach of the class, a former girlfriend. As they fight the elements while searching for the girls they discover they both regret how things turned out and decided to take this second chance on love. A short, but quick action filled story. A good start to a new series.
You're The One That I Want by Susan May Warren (#6)
Owen is tired of being the black sheep of the family, but is concerned about returning to his family. He wonders if he went to far the last time they were all together. Due to an injury he lost his career as a NHL star player and when confronted by his brother, at his sister's wedding, about his behavior towards a young woman they got into a fist fight. Owen finds himself in Alaska on a crab fishing boat. The first mate is the Captain's only daughter Scotty. Scotty has always been just one of the guys, happy to work along side her father. This fishing trip is all about earning enough money to keep their boat and pay off their debt. When she is swept over board Owen without hesitation jumps in to save her. While waiting to be rescued, Owen gets Scotty to agree to come home with him to face his family. How they get to Minnesota is a large part of the story and the reconciliation is not easy with this large, boisterous family! Scotty feels overwhelmed but the sense of wanting to belong is strong. I looked forward to Owen' s story and was very pleased with how he got his second chances. Scotty was the perfect match for him. It is sad to say goodbye to this wonderful family as this is the last book in the series.

Emma, Serena and Mackenzie have been friends since their 20s. They used to meet together at Emma's Grandmother's lake house every year. It has been five years since Emma has invited her friends. She has had her secret reasons and decides now is the time to reveal all. While MacKenzie makes her way to NY to meet up with Serena and Emma, Emma is involved in accident that puts her in a coma. While waiting for her to come out of the coma their stories are told. While recuperating at the lake house they catch up and when Emma's secret (which I figured out early) is revealed, it takes everything they've ever built together as friends to heal, forgive and reconcile. A good book to snuggle up and read while finally experiencing our first snow storm.
How To Be Bad by E. Lockhart, Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle

Mel the new girl in town somehow invites herself along on the road trip. They make plans to stop at certain attractions, but their trip does not go as planned. The three girls experience more than they bargained for and end up being drawn closer together. A fun read for a Sunday afternoon.

The first snow storm of the year arrived Saturday evening promising up to 4 inches of snow. Our area received barely 2 inches (I am not complaining!). There is more on the way this week.

I still haven't read A Week at the Lake but it's inching up the list. How to Be Bad sounds good too. First snow storm hey, stay warm and snug ... we could do with 2 inches of rain lol. Have a wonderful week Nise` and happy reading :)
I liked How to Be Bad when I read it years ago. I seem to remember a crocodile or alligator involved somehow.
The Wendy Wax book sounds fantastic and so does the Susan May Warren novel though I haven't read the series.
Have a great week! Hope you don't get much snow!
I loved A Week at the Lake...and I'm curious about How to Be Bad....sounds like fun.
Enjoy your new week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I was going to read How to be Bad last year, the premise sounded fun but wasn't sure if it was for me. We got a little less snow than expected too, although it's coming down now slowly but steadily. Should be an interesting week. :)
Katie Ruggle is new to me but sounds good.
I hope you enjoy all of your reading!
Stay warm in the snow and happy reading!

Wendy Wax is an author I've still to get to. Enjoy all your reads and have a good week.
I would have sworn I had read A Week at the Lake and I can't believe I haven't. I wondered why it wasn't ringing a bell as I read your summary!
Enjoy the cozy inside reading that is sure to be coming your way with the snow.
How to be bad sounds like an interesting read. Might have to add that one to my TBR pile. You can see mine here: http://theresaraymer.blogspot.com/
A beach story by the fire; cozy!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
I really need to add that Wendy Wax book to my list.
I love Wendy Wax and am glad you had her book to read during snow. Having said that, I hope we don't get any snow this year. Until a few weeks ago, I was in denial that winter was coming.
The Search and Rescue series sounds good!! I will have to look into it.
We got around 2-3 inches, which is what was predicted for our area. I was hoping for a bit more! :)
Sounds like you have been enjoying some good books of late, Nise'! I've been wanting to try something by Wendy Wax for some time now. And You're the One That I Want by Susan May Warren sure sounds good.
I was happy to see snow on the mountains as I drove to work this morning. It was a much welcome sight. It's supposed to be dry here today. I'm already missing last week's rain.
Have a great week!
The weather has been so weird, 2 inches of snow is definitely nothing to complain about. Enjoy your weekly book choices.
"How to Be Bad" sounds like great fun--I'm off to go add it to my wishlist!
How To Be Bad sounds interesting...time to add it to my TBR list, I guess.
I haven't heard of most of these books. But I hope you enjoy them all!
