Daniel Tate clenched his teeth and looked away just as the needle pierced a vein in his arm. He'd spent two tours of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He'd been shot at, dodged IEDs, and escaped a grenades. But needles - damn, he hated needles. "This will help relax you," Dr. Shaw told him. When she walked in the door, Tate had been relieved to see a woman. But she had barely introduced herself before she pulled out a stainless steel tray with vials and surgical utensils and, of course, several syringes.
Silent Creed by Alex Kava (#2)
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn/ MizB of A Daily Rhythm
All Tate could think was that this served him right for not reading all seven pages. He'd only cared about the three thousand dollars he has been promised, and he had double-checked that it was in the contract.

I love the opening you shared, Nise'. Sometimes the bravest of men and women are afraid of the simplest of things. And the teaser is so true! You really do have to read the contract before you sign it. I have only read one Alex Kava book and I would like to read more. Thank you for sharing!
I'm trying to think if I've read an Alex Kava book. I know I've meant to. This one sounds good and I'm guessing it is #2 in the series. Will have to check it out. And look forward to hearing what you thought about it.
I can relate to that fear of needles...LOL. Interesting excerpt! Here's mine: “BEHIND CLOSED DOORS”
I hate needles too!! Great teaser and intro, but I don't think this is my style. Here's mine for this week: http://justasecondblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/teaser-tuesdaysfirst-chapter-first_29.html
Sounds really great. I'd keep reading for sure. Here's my link to an intro and excerpt from My Secret Sister, a true story: http://wp.me/p4DMf0-15Z
I've heard of Alex Kava's books, but I haven't tried any of them. This opening is an attention getter, especially because I don't like needles either. I'd keep reading!
What a mean lady. :)
great teaser.
I can relate. I am tough as nails, but wimp out when I see a needle coming my way... lol
Oh I hate needles as well:( I've enjoyed this author previously so I'd probably continue. Hope you enjoy it.
I love Kava's books and this sounds so good!

I haven't read Alex Kava's books yet but they always sound so good.
The needles intro puts me off. Hate them.
Sounds like he's getting into more than he bargained for. Thanks for visiting my blog.
An author I've been wanting to try...
