Reading Wrap Up

I believe that I have finished up all my Christmas themed books.  Last week I mentioned that I needed to get shopping rather than read - I am happy to report the shopping has been started!

The Christmas Wedding Ring by Susan Mallery
When Molly was 12 she had a crush on her sister's former boyfriend. One the day of her sister's wedding Dylan shows up, but does not crash the wedding. As he says goodbye to Molly, he gives her a ring, tells her when she grows up and is ready for an adventure to find him. Fast forward 14 years - she has lost her job, her fiancee broke up with her, and she needs to get out of town. She looks up Dylan, finds him and visits him and challenges him to make good on his promise. He is facing a business decision and decides getting away with the gorgeous grown-up girl is just what he needs. They spend two weeks together and Dylan knows Molly is keeping a few secrets. She doesn't want to ruin the adventure and just want to have fun. As they slowly get to know each other and become friends, will their relationship grow into more? A good story by one of my favorite authors.
*Formerly titled The Wedding Ring Promise*

An Amish Noel by Patricia Davids

A quick, heartwarming read for tour on Dec. 18th with a yummy recipe.

Only A Promise by Mary Balogh
Ralph, a member of the Survivor's Club has returned home after convalescing at the home of his friend. . He knows that he must marry and have a son to protect the family title and fortune. While visiting his grandmother her companion Chole proposes a bargain. He needs to marry and she wants a home and family. At first Ralph is against the plan, but when he returns to London and the season begins, he knows that the young girls on the marriage mart are not for him. When Ralph's grandfather falls ill he returns home to spend time with him, and decides to take Chole up on her plan. They marry and life does not turn out they way they both had planned (of course). They both break their promises, but end up being exactly what/who the other needs.  Both characters learn that the plans, emotions and desires they begin the marriage with are not sustainable. As they begin to know each other, they slowly begin to change and like each other and like themselves together. A great installment in this series.  I look forward to the next book.

When A Scot Ties The Know by Tessa Dare
Maddie wants nothing to do with her first Season. She is terrible in social settings and prefers to be alone with her sketching. To avoid the whole mess she make up a Scottish Captain beau. She writes him letters and to keep up the facade, she posts them figuring they will end up in a dead letter pile somewhere. Ten years later, she is living in Scotland at a castle that she inherited, the very Captain shows up at her door wanting everything she wrote to him in her letters. Maddie is shocked and tries to put him off, but he is determined to make a life for his men and insists.  I loved these two characters! It was great to watch them get to know each other and fall in love. My first Tessa Dare book, won't be my last.

The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss by Max Wirestone (audio)
Dahlia has the worst luck when it comes to job interviews and therefore is out a work. When Jonah asks her to find his stolen sword (from a video game) and pays her a ridiculous amount of money she jumps at the offer.  Very quickly the search for the sword leads to a murder investigation.  I am not a MMORPG aficionado, but thoroughly enjoyed this hilarious book. Dahlia and the cast of characters are quirky and a whole lot of fun.  Narrated by  Lauren Fortgang.
*Thanks to Hachette Audio for this review copy*

Wow, I'm impressed you were able to read so much this time of year. I'm done with shopping except for our son and I don't know what to get him. He might just get money because I don't want to buy something just to be buying something if that makes sense.

I haven't read as much Christmas stuff as I thought I'd get to, but my reading has slackened a bit. The shopping has started here too, I hit the mall yesterday but have lots to do yet!

At least we've both made a start on the Christmas shopping ... I really wanted to be finished as we have a wedding to attend this weekend. Bummer about your fitbit and missing those steps, is Santa bringing a new one? lol
The Susan Mallery looks good and I've got a Tessa Dare to try, not sure what it is.
I loved Phantom, hope you have an amazing time.

Lots of good reading for you last week and it looks like you have a good one coming up. I have just a tiny bit of shopping left, other than the things needed for Christmas dinner. There is always grocery shopping, isn't there.
