Even though I had planned to be unplugged for most of the Holiday weekend, it ended up being forced upon me as I was preparing a couple of dishes Wednesday evening. I bent over my sink and my back seized up! UGH. Thankfully we had most everything ready to go and Thursday went very well. I spent the rest of the weekend resting the back. It feels a bit better today and hopefully after some treatment it will be back to normal. Being forced to lay around got me caught up on all my DVR'd programs! There is always a silver lining. How was your weekend?
Did You Ever Have A Family by Bill Clegg
A fire takes the life of June's daughter, her fiancee, June's ex-husband and her younger boyfriend. In a fog of grief June gets in the car leaves Connecticut and drives. She arrives at a small Inn in Washington. The story is told in alternating voices of those that are connected to the lives lost. While sad, there is hope and reconciliation in the story that is hard to put down. A fine debut novel.
Lady Maybe by Julie Klassen
Hannah agrees to be Lady Marianna's companion again after leaving so abruptly months ago. In an effort to save his marriage, Sir John is moving them to a secret location for reasons that become clear as the story progresses. An accident, mistaken identity, secrets and a couple of twists lend to a well written romance.
Shadow Fall by Laura Griffin
FBI Agent Tara has just completed a difficult case and is looking forward to some downtime. Before she even can get home her boss calls her and sends her out on another case. A business woman who made a run for the US Senate has been murdered and dumped. The local law enforcement has a suspect, Liam Wolf, a former bodyguard for the woman killed, and they resent the FBI's involvement in the case. As Tara and her partner M.J. begin to investigate, other body dumps are discovered and once they link them together they need Liam's contacts to help solve the case. Another excellent installment in the Tracers series that is fast paced with plenty of action that kept me guessing until the very end.
Three Truths and a Lie by Lisa Gardner
Detective D.D. Warren accepts a speaking engagement on police procedure to a group of crime writers that she soon regrets. She is nervous and wants to back out. Her husband Adam encourages her to just be herself. She abandons her notes and tells her audience about a very strange murder with three truths and a lie. They are challenged to figure out the truths and the lie to discover the killer. D.D.'s lecture keeps you engaged, guessing and smiling as she "calls out" the writer's attending ! A great short story that has me eagerly awaiting the next D.D. Warren installment in February.

This was a short, enjoyable book in a long running series. Special Holiday Tour on Dec. 11th.
Voyager by Diana Gabaldon (audio)
Book Three in this absolutely fabulous series narrated by the equally fabulous Davina Porter. 1746 Jamie has survived the battle, but is lost without Claire and is hoping she made it back safe. In 1968 Claire discovers with the help of Roger Mackenzie that Jamie survived. She decides to leave her daughter Brianna behind and attempt to go back to Jamie. We learn what happens to them during the years they are separated. THEN they are reunited! Jamie has a few secrets that he keeps from Claire. One of those secrets requires them to get payment. While on this quest his nephew Ian is kidnapped they go on a journey to rescue him. Action, adventure, love, secrets and surprises make this chunkster a delightful read/listen.

Oh no, sorry to hear about your back Nise`, hope it comes good after treatment and yay for silver linings! The Tracers series is another one on my wishlist, just not enough hours in the day. Thanks for the DG reminder, I really need to make some time for Written In My Own Heart's Blood.
Rest up and happy reading :)
Back pain is the worst, and it can come on so suddenly. Hope you feel better and it passes soon. Sounds like you had a nice Thanksgiving other than that. Enjoy your week and take care...

Oh no. Just a small bend the wrong way and ouch. Hope it improves. You got heaps read. Yes DG series is amazing on audio, isn't Davinia the absolute best. Love the wide variety you read.
There's nothing worse than back trouble! I hope you're back to normal soon. I need to pick up Did You Ever Have a Family.

Oh no, sorry to hear about your back! And at what a time for it to happen eh. It's good to know that all is better now though!
Lee Child is an author I've been wanting to discover for quite some time now, but there's always more, and more, and more books to get round to!
Happy reading!
Oh, back pain is an ongoing part of my life, too, with it being more troublesome at some times than others. It's hard to have to watch what you do all the time, and then to have it seize up unexpectedly? That is the worst.
Glad you caught up on the DVR...silver linings are good!
I love Lisa Gardner's books, so I'm looking forward to Three Truths and a Lie.
