I am unbound now. My wrists and ankles burn from the straps. My ribs are bruised and there's a bump behind my ears. I don't remember hitting my head. I'm lying very still because my whole body aches. Like I've been in a wreck. Like the time I crashed my bike. Why doesn't my family save me? Is no one missing me? I have only my family. No, friends. It was just too hard. I'm all alone. So alone. How long have I been here? Where is here? The whole world is slipping away. Everything. Everyone. Am I awake or asleep? Am I dreaming or is this real? Is it day or night?

Okay that is a scary start for this book --- I'd keep reading
I love her books! I haven't read this one, but I know I'd keep on reading.
I dont like this start! scary.
Wow! Great beginning and teaser. I really need to catch up on this series. The teaser on my adult blog comes from Deceptions by Kelley Armstrong this week. Happy reading!
I've only read a book or two by Kathy Reichs. I am a devoted fan of the TV series though. I like this beginning. Am putting this one on my list to pick up at some point.
That opener is so sad but it makes me want to read more to find out more about this friendless person and why she's where she is.
The teaser is chilling! You can feel the fear . . . I'd hate to know what is happening to that person. I imagine it's not good at all. I also like the opening. It's gripping. I have never read a Kathy Reichs' book. Maybe someday. I worry she'd be more graphic than I want to read right now though.
I've never read any of her books. I keep up with so many series and then I forget to add new ones. Have to check my library.
Mine this week is from Sue Grafton's 21st Kinsey Millhone book:

My kind of grit.
Oh, this one sounds so scary, but I know I would be unable to put it down. Thanks for sharing!
