I was gone for three weeks in August, and feel like I totally missed the month. The basement project I mentioned last week - *Fail*. Did not even attempt the project. We will see what happens this week.
Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis (audio)
Lily Danville hopes her return home is a quick, just until she gets another job. She agreed to help out a friend and learns that it is at her former crushes resort. She has not been back since a tragic accident took her sister's life and she has blamed herself ever since. Aiden is surprised to learn that Lily is back. He is determined to find out exactly why she left and finds himself very intrigued by the woman she has become. Lily is not willing to risk her heart again, but Aiden proves to be a temptation she can't avoid. A great beginning to a new series. I look forward to getting to know more of these characters. Karen White did a great job narrating (as usual).
*Thanks to Mitch & Hachette Audio for this review copy*Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews
Kate and Curran have left the pack and are working on figuring out what direction their lives will take. Their friend Georgie comes to them and asks for help in finding her missing boyfriend, Eduardo. Once the investigation gets going they realize that more is going on than Eduardo refusing a couple of Guild jobs. Loved Kate and Curran in this new life position. Glad that the pack still had a place in their lives. Can't wait to see what happens next. If you enjoy urban fantasy don't miss this series.
The Liar by Nora Roberts
Shelby's husband died in a boating accident. Shortly after she discovers that he is not the man she thought she married. She is left with overwhelming debt, she discovers a safety deposit box filled with money, numerous IDs and a gun she decides she has had enough and goes home to her family. While trying to put her life back together, her husband's past returns and threatens all she holds dear. Her family rallys around to help figure out what is happening. While the storyline was predictable, it was an enjoyable read. I started out listening to this on audio narrated by one of my favorites, but did not like that she made Shelby so whiny so I switched to print.

I loved Second Chance Summer. I'm looking forward to book #2.
Have a great week!
Projects wait!!
I want to read the Jill Shalvis one and so want to start the Ilona Andrews series. I have the first one on my Kindle as have heard the world building takes awhile to get your head around. Then hope to shift to audio.
Ha, I didn't mind The Liar on audio! Probably not as discerning - working on it!
Have a great project and reading week.
Oh yes - projects will always be there.
I like Jill Shalvis but I don't think I have read Ilona Andrews although I have eyed a few of her series.
I agree that sometimes a whiny narration can be annoying. I've suffered through some "flat" narrations too.
I hope this is a good week for you. Happy Reading.
It's hard to catch up after being gone for a while. I hope you get to that project this week.
I really want to read the Lisa Scottoline also. Unfortunately, or not, I have a big pile of others to get to first. Also things I want to read, so I'm not actually complaining.
I loved both The Liar and Every Fifteen Seconds. I am curious about The Rogue You Know.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I love Lisa Scotoline's books and also want Magic Shifts. I'd not worry too much about the basement project. It'll be waiting for ya. LOL
I'm still working on my front flower beds and summer is almost over. Yikes.

Hope you had a nice 3 weeks Nise. Basements can wait:)
August disappeared for me too Nise, I hope all went well with your mum's move. Ooh yippee for a new Jill Shalvis series and thanks for the tip on The Liar, I had it on my audible wishlist but I think I'll 'read' it. Have a good week and happy reading :)
I had a *fail* this week with my decluttering - think I'll make it an ongoing goal :)
I'm listening to Second Chance Summer - I agree, Karen White always does a good job with the narration. Have a good week!
I have read Second Chance Summer earlier this summer and really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the second book. It was my first Jill Shalvis book, but I really have to check out a her other series as well. I hope you have good week!
Fantastic haul. Magic Shifts these are all great audios. Hope your week is wonderful.
I'm with everyone else - don't stress yourself too much re projects. My to-do list always scares the bejesus out of me but I 'mostly' meet deadlines... I just tend to add a lot of crap to it as well.
Keen to hear what you think of some of your new arrivals. I like Scottoline, but haven't seen this one hit Australian shores yet!

Good luck with the basement project! I have gotten very little done since Gage went back to school EXCEPT feeling more relaxed :)
I am so out of the book loop there are so many titles that look good to me :)
