Weekly Reading Wrap-Up

We had a great time celebrating a First birthday and Father's Day! We welcomed the first official day of summer with a thankfully warm, sunny day!

  My Book Thoughts:

Your Next Breath by Iris Johansen
Catherine Ling once again hopes to settle into being a mother to her newly rescued son despite being a CIA agent.  Luke is not your average young man much like her mother.  She is soon apprised of the death of two close friends that are vendetta killings with  more promised to come.  Catherine has to work fast to be one step ahead of Santos before he takes out another of her family or friends.  The ending leaves me wondering what she has in store for these characters.

The Marriage Season by Linda Lael Miller
The third book in the series is Bex and Tate's story.  Bex is expanding her fitness centers and is preparing for an upcoming marathon. Tate has recently moved to Mustang Creek to raise his two boys.  Both are being set up by well meaning friends, but have been avoiding relationships for different reasons.  Bex is also dealing with a sister's crumbling marriage and what it is doing to her beloved eight year old nephew.  Despite her friends happiness at being newly married she she is trying to avoid being sucked into Tate's life, but loves how it helps her nephew.  After roughing it on a fishing trip with all they guys, she is a goner.  An enjoyable wrap-up of the marriage pack trilogy.

Holding Strong by Lori Foster
Denver is in training for an upcoming fight and is trying to keep Cherry out of his mind.  Her flirty ways is what bothers him.  Cherry has no idea that her being nice is what is keeping Denver from noticing her obvious interest.  When her past threatens her Denver is willing to step up and protect her. After meeting these characters in the first book No Limits, I was eager for their story.  Learning about their lives helps to understand them, and makes their HEA sweeter.  Looking forward to Stack's story.

Hell or High Water by Julie Ann Walker
Leo "LT" Anderson and his SEAL team are retired and going into the salvage business.  They have good Intel on a sunken ship they want to find.  While they are waiting, CIA Agent Olivia Mortier shows up asking for their help in tracking down a stolen cache of chemical weapons.  Leo and Olivia have history that neither has forgotten.  What was supposed to be a simple job turns into anything but simple. A great start to a new series.

Hope to Die by James Patterson (audio)
The action was non-stop and the narrations of Scott Sower and Michael Boatman have you feeling like you are right there with the torturous feelings of Alex and the creepiness of Mulch/Sunday .  After listening to this 22nd book in the series,  I am wondering how much more can Alex go through regarding his family.   More thoughts later this week.

Unbreak Me by Lexi Ryan
Maggie has returned home for her sister's wedding.  Her sister is marrying her former fiance Will.  Maggie does not have a problem with her sister marrying Will, but does Will have a problem now that Maggie is back in town?  Maggie meets the neighbor and they find they have much in common, but will their secrets keep them apart?  This was a Kindle freebie that came in handy on a night I could not read.

YAY so glad Cole's birthday celebrations and father's day were wonderful and the weather happily cooperated. Adding Hell or High Water to my list, been a while since I read anything like it and being the start of a new series at least there's no catching up to do! Have a good week and happy reading :)

I used to read all of Iris Johansen's books but haven't read one in a while. It sounds like they're still good, though!

Looks like we read the same kind of books. I also read Your Next Breath, Hell or High Water and Holding Strong. I like Linda Lael Miller but haven't started that series. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I haven't read a Johansen novel for a while but really must get back into them.

Keen to hear what you thought of I Was Here. It was the first of her books I read. Not as sad as I worried it would be. Thankfully!

I haven't read any James Patterson yet, although I have been told to do so 100s of times. Maybe an audiobook is the way to go. I will have to look online to see if my library has any. Have a wonderful week. :)

Sounds like you had a great weekend with a birthday and father's day. It's been a bit rainy here, but I don't mind the slightly cooler weather. Your Next Breath sounds like a suspensefull book!
I hope you have a great week!

Nice haul, Nise'! I have already read Holding Strong, and I loved it. Of course, I'm a huge Lori Foster fan, and tend to love most of her books anyway ;)
Have a great week, enjoy your new books and happy reading.
