It was beautiful week here. We had some storms Tuesday, but the worst of it missed us, those in Portland, MI were not so fortunate. Our thoughts and prayers are with that community. My mom and brother live in Ketchikan, Alaska where a flight seeing plane went down and all aboard were lost. Thoughts and prayers are with those families too. It was another birthday weekend here with our daughter and my husband celebrating.Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
Sydney's older, "golden" brother Peyton is sentenced to prison for drunk driving. The family is devastated and their lives change drastically. Sydney leaves her private school to attend the public high school to help off set the cost of Peyton's trial. She is determined to make the best of this new life, and is hoping that maybe she won't be invisible to her parents anymore. She quickly finds out that her mother is still consumed with her brother just in a different way. She is very concerned about the victim of the accident, but is reluctant to bring it up with her parents. Sydney new friend Layla and her family is everything Sydney would want for her own. They help her learn about herself, give her the courage to stand up for herself and provide the support she has been searching for. They make some bad decisions that are handled very well by the author. Another superb story by this author. .
I Was Here by Gayle Foreman
Cody's friend Meg has taken her own life. Meg's parents ask her to go and pick up Meg's belonging at college. Cody is hoping to find out what may have lead to this decision of Megs. Her roommates and friends do not offer any answers. When Cody opens Meg's computer files she discovers things about Meg that she did not know and that information leads her to investigate things further. This short book packs a big punch. I really liked how the relationship between Cody and her mother evolved, but thought the romance bit could have been left out. .
Cold, Cold Heart by Tami Hoag
About a year ago Dana was kidnapped by a serial killer and managed to survive. She suffered a brain injury and has been in rehab, but is now being released to go home. Dana's mother is thankful that she can't remember anything, but Dana is not. The police are convinced that her friend that disappeared years ago was also a victim of this serial killer. Dana does what she can to help her memory and strange things begin to happen in town. This books is a continuation of The 9th Victim, but can be read alone. I had the culprit identified early but it still was a page turning read.

Weather is so capricious. Terrible about plane going down, so many tragedies. Nice to have birthday celebrations - lots of cake!
I have read some books by Karen Marie Moning but not for a long time. Hope you enjoy all your books. wow how do you listen to so many at one time!
I don't think I've read any of those authors but I've heard a lot about all three of them. Happy birthday to your husband and your daughter!
The news from this last week has been horrendous. Just terrible.
Your books are all new to me. I like the story of the Dessen book. Never read anything by this author as yet.

Happy birthday to your daughter and husband! You read a lot of books by authors that I've heard a lot about but I've somehow actually never picked up myself. I'll have to change that. Enjoy your week!
Glad you had a good week, but yes those storm were something else. We were camping in Holland when they came through, quite the t- storm.
Hope you have a nice week, and a great 4th!!
Happy B-Day to your daughter and husband!
The weather can be unbelievable. I'm glad you missed the storms.

Happy birthday to your daughter and husband - hope you enjoyed the celebration!
All of the books you've mentioned this week are new to me.
We have managed to miss much of the bad weather here in Duluth. However, yesterday - just a couple of miles from my house - a 12 year old was struck by lightning. It didn't even rain here. It has been a while since I read anything by Hoag. I should check TBR mountain to see what I have. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Oh, a lot of books in common this week. I've read I Was Here; Cold Cold Heart; and Memory Man. All goodies!
By the way, I couldn't get your link on Kimberley's Sunday Post page to work. Not sure if that's just a me thing or not!!!

That plane crash was terrible. Over the weekend a private plane crashed into a home a few hours from us, near where some friends live. The house was destroyed. A family in the plane killed, but the homeowners and 2 kids escaped alive. Terrible things happening all the time.
You little cutie is getting big with year one behind him already.
Happy reading.
Wasn't that weather crazy? I think a tornado touched down in Saline as well, but I am not sure. It hit here around 3am; thank goodness we were spared anything too extreme but my prayers definitely went out to the people who weren't as lucky.
Did you see that Michigan had another earthquake the other day? What is that about?
The Sarah Dessen book looks good! I will have to try it.
