Last week I posted this picture. My daughter and I took Cole to the zoo to see the new tiger sanctuary. I got a couple of emails worrying that Cole was way too close to this tiger. What you didn't/couldn't see was the frame (circled in the second picture) holding the huge piece of glass that separated us from the tiger. It is cool to get a very close up view of the tigers. The glass is so crystal clear that it does not show up in the picture. I would never dangle him that close to a predator!
I did, however, set a cake in front of him on his birthday! He did not hesitate to dive right in.
Of course, we practiced the week before.

People thought you actually took him that near a tiger? HA, silly people.
ooh - that does look scary - the tiger. The cake looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing your photos.
Ok ---==as a grammy, I knew that cutie was not in danger....LOL
First birthdays are the best. My littlest will be one on July 1st, but we'll be celebrating this Sunday.
I had already determined that there must be a glass barrier. A zoo wouldn't possibly have just a fence around a tiger. They jump, you know. (Cats and all.) LOL
You gave him the whole cake? Love it. My daughter, who bakes cakes and cupcakes for people, makes what she calls a 'smash' cake for little ones at their birthday. And she can tweak it to contain ingredients that the mommies decide are best for the kiddos. Then there is the big cake for all the other people to eat. :-)
Wow, I can't believe people thought you would dangle precious Cole in front of a tiger.
What a beautiful baby and tiger! Love it!
I got a chuckle out of this. Yes I would assume there was glass there . :) Goodness... funny tho. Great cake too- I'll bet he enjoyed it!
Ha, I've been to our local zoo and intuited that glass window, I know Grandma wouldn't dangle precious Cole that close! Love how these days they give the one year olds a cake to dig into, love the idea of practice too!
I'm actually a bit surprised people would think you would do that with your grandbaby. Even knowing you 'online' I know you would never do that. I love these photos and I bet he had fun with that cookie and that cake. It's so cute when kids are allowed free reign to have fun.
It's crazy you have to explain that... like what zoo would have the people that close unless glass was involved. LOL... too much.
Great shot!
OH, silly people!!! Must have been people who don't have kids b/c if they did, they would know that any mom or grandma would never, ever put their kin in front of danger! I think the pictures are hysterical!!! What would happen if they got on he WWW?!?!?!?! YIKES!
OH MY GOSH - I never thought to practice with my son when he was one!! Fantastic idea! Happy 1st birthday! Oh, what a shame... all that cake :( I hope you bought more than one!!
Adorable...I wouldn't have thought you would take him that close to a tiger.
Glad you had fun.
Love the cake photos too.
In case my comment came out wrong, I meant that I KNOW you would not take him that close. I knew there was glass.
