Reading Wrap-Up/What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

Can you believe that May is over?   We had plans to open the pool this weekend, but the weather turned cold and rainy so we put it off until next weekend.

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Checkmate by Steven James
Agent Patrick Bowers is newly married and soon will be dropping his daughter  off to college.  Life is good. At the office, a secret FBI location, both he and his partner receive text messages telling them to go to different parts of the building. Confused, Patrick goes along with Ralph to the receiving area just before an explosion rocks the building. There are clues left that lead Patrick to wonder which criminal from his past has returned. Non-stop action and suspense kept the pages turning and guessing.. This series has been fantastic from book 1 to this final installment. I highly recommend it.

Trust No One by Jayne Ann Krentz
Grace works for a successful motivational speaker.  When he doesn't show up for work she goes to his home to find him dead - murdered.  But what is strange is the item left at the scene which points to another murder that happened years ago.   Her best friend Irene has set her up on a blind date with a business guru, that helps her unravel who is stalking her and how it is related to the current murder and the one that happened years ago.  JAK does romantic suspense very well and I was surprised when all was revealed.

Never Resist A Rake by Mia Marlowe
John is the newly recognized heir.  He has agreed to go to the family home, but is determined to be his own man and hold them all at arms length.  Family friend Rebecca has been asked by both parties to come along to help ease him into his new role.  Since he rescued her when she needed it she agrees to help. The more time she spends with John, her feelings begin to get in the way.  John feels "safe" with Rebecca as she accepts him for who he has always been.  John has a plan to keep all the marriage minded mothers and their daughters away.  Of course, the plan does not go smoothly, which leads to humor, fun and a happy ending.  The second book in the series.

Up Next:
The Beautiful One by Emily Greenwood
Crash and Burn by Lisa Gardner
Behind Closed Doors by Elizabeth Haynes

In celebration of my 8th year of blogging and the ABEA I am giving away a selection of audiobooks and print books.  Enter through June 3rd here.

Am keen to read both CheckMate and Trust No One!

We're heading into winter here in Australia but it's been REALLY hot, so I'm hoping it finally starts to cool down a little!

Have a good week Nise'.

1st of June and we've had a cooler, drizzly, windier day after some quite warm weather. Maybe we are actually going to get a winter. Hope your weather improves, it's so nice being able to spend family time in the pool ... does Cole like the pool? Have a great week and happy reading!

The summer will straighten itself up a bit soon hopefully! We just had our supposed first day of winter today and went for a very mild walk along the beach, removing jacket because it was too hot.
I really enjoy JAK suspense and liked Trust No One on audio, I see the narrator whose name escapes me at the moment is recording one of her older ones that I liked very much so I will no doubt do a reread by listening to it.

3 books is a slow week for you and a big week for anyone else. I'm pretty sure summer is here to stay for us. The pool in our neighborhood has been open for a while.

We really need rain here. It's really dry and forest fires are starting all over. We have a fire ban in the city so no fire pits or anything in the backyard. It's scary when it gets that dry. Congrars on 8 years of blogging. It's hard to believe we've been blogging for for that long but we have!

Thanks for introducing me to a new series and author, Steven James! Oh my goodness, I am biting my lip to not buy or borrow book one in the series, since June is my "read what I have right now" month. In July though, I will look for it :)

I really liked Trust No One, and was excited to get an ARC of Krentz's new novel, Secret Sisters, at BEA.
