Last week's medical testing all came back normal. Thanks for all your good thoughts. I finished the chunkster I was engrossed in and loved it! Not much planned for this US holiday weekend as it is cool and rainy. Getting caught up on our DVR'd programs.
Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:
Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker (audio)
Clara aka Rain is undercover trying to infiltrate a car theft ring. She finally has her chance to attract Luke's attention when she brings her car into the garage that Luke's Uncle Rust own. She does and become his girlfriend. As she goes deeper in her cover she learns more about Luke's family business. Luke has always looked up to his uncle for taking care of him and his family after his dad died. He wants to be more involved in the business and he knows some of it is not totally legal. He is seduced by the luxurious lifestyle and pulls Rain into it with him. The lines between her job and her feelings become blurred. When things turn deadly the suspense ramps up. Told in alternating voices of Clara(Rain) and Luke. Expertly narrated by Elizabeth Louise and Josh Goodman. This is the second book in the series, but stands alone well.
*Thanks to Simon and Schuster Audio for this review copy*The Bullet by Mary Louise Kelly
Caroline is having trouble with her wrist and her doctor orders an MRI. It is discovered that she has a bullet lodged in her neck and it has been there since she was three. Her parents have kept a secret from her for over 20 years. At age three her parents were killed by an intruder and they adopted her after it was decided to leave the bullet in her neck. She decides to have the bullet removed and search out the secrets of her past that some would just as soon keep hidden. Fast paced, suspenseful with a twist that I did not see coming. I will read more of this author!
Dollbaby by Laura Lane McNeal
Ibby Bell is 12 when her father dies. She and her mom take a road trip from Washington to New Orleans to meet her eccentric Grandma Fannie. Her mother tells her when they arrive that she will be living with this stranger while she "figures things out" and takes off. 1964 New Orleans is strange and scary to Ibby, but the people that work for Frannie embrace her and make her feel welcome. Frannie, Queenie, and Doll slowly reveal secrets from the past that weave a wonderful, heartwarming story. Don't miss this one.
Never Judge A Lady By Her Cover by Sarah MacLean
Lady Georgiana has returned to society and will suffer the snubs and gossip in order to do what needs to be done to make herself respectable for her daughter's future benefit. She has set her sights on a man with a title that needs a fortune (her fortune). Newspaper man Duncan West has figured out that by night she is Anna, the "hostess" at the infamous Fallen Angel Club and agrees to keep her secret if she will help him get information he needs from Chase the owner and silent partner of the club. Duncan has secrets of his own to keep and wants to keep Chase from finding them out. They both have met their match while determined to keep their secrets it soon becomes clear one of them will have to give them up, but which one first? For three books we have been teased by the identity of Chase and all is revealed in this book. A great conclusion to this series.
Loved this second book in this series. A chunkster that is well worth the time. My thoughts are here.

Week in Review
Glad to hear the medical testing all went well.
Dollbaby looks like a good read.
Have a great week!
Hmm Written in my Own Heart's Blood is a bit of a chunkster too. I have the Sarah Maclean book in my wish list at Audible but must start at the beginning of the series. Perhaps I might leave it until I finish the Mary Balogh one Survivor's Club that I am reading this year and then get into Sarah's series. Enjoy the long weekend.
Glad it went well for the medical school. All your books are new to me. Have read lots of positive thoughts on The Bone Tree.
Glad your tests were okay Nise'. Sometimes it's a relief when that stuff is all over.
As for your reading... Dollbaby looks great as does The Bullet! I haven't heard of either.

Glad thinks turned out okay with the tests... I'm sure that was a relief! Dollbaby was my favorite audiobook last year, and The Bullet is on my wish list. Hope you have a great week!
I really want to read The Bullet and Doll Baby! You read some great books last week!
I've got the first and second books in that MacLean series on my TBR mountain but haven't had a chance to read them yet. They do sound good. I also think The Bullet sounds like something I would enjoy. Come see my reading week here. Have a wonderful week!
Becoming Rain caught my attention....I like characters named "Rain." LOL
I enjoyed Dollbaby. Glad you did, too.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Laurel-Rain (Rain)
That's good news your medical test came back normal! I hope you'll enjoy your long weekend.
Good to hear all your tests were normal, unless of course you were hoping for an answer and then it can be mighty frustrating!
Great selection of books as always. I must get back to Mia Marlowe's novels, it's been a while since I read one.
I've been so out of it that I didn't know about the testing. I'm glad it all came back okay! Of all of these I think Dollbaby might be the one I go for.
