Reading Wrap-Up/What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. I use this this weekly meme as a way to give short, concise thoughts on the books I've read.

Our daughter fell and fractured her ankle on Thursday so our lives have been busy helping her with our 7 month old grandson.  She is unable to walk on it therefore can't carry him or drive.  We are hoping she gets a boot on Thursday so she can be a bit more mobile. Our son-in-law (poor guy) has the flu so he has been quarantined.  It has been crazy, but what ya gonna do?

Thoughts on the Books I Read Last Week:

Indefensible  by Lee Goodman
US Attorney Nick Davis is tasked to take a witness to the woods where she says someone was burying a body. He is sure the witness is wrong so his daughter is along for the ride. The body is that of a missing young man that was planning to be an informant.. Shortly after the body is found the witness turns up dead because of leak in the department. The investigation is stalled and Nick begins to suspect everyone. This is a fast paced character driver legal mystery that kept me guessing.

My Bonny Light Horseman by L.A. Meyer (audio)
Book six in the young adult Jacky Faber series.  Jacky's ship has been captured and she is taken prisoner. She is sentenced to death, however, it is faked and she is pressed into being a spy.  She is willing to go only if her fiancee Jaimy is released from prison and taken home to recuperate. What she is asked to do and what she ends up doing makes for a fun, adventurous and totally outrageous story.  Brilliantly narrated by Katherine Kellgren.

Reading:
Bittersweet by Colleen McCullough
The Good Wife by Jane Porter

Indefensible sounds like a very good read. Hope you continue to enjoy the Jane Porter series. I haven't read Bittersweet - a good time to be reading it with her death so recent.

I need to get through some review books so I can start on that Jane Porter series. Awful having an injury like that anytime but especially difficult when you have a baby, lucky your daughter has you to help. Hope things get a little easier this week :)

Oh your pour daughter though she's lucky she has you to help out. I have a weird phobia about breaking my ankle, just the thought of it makes me shudder,

I hope you find some time to read,

Oh man, your poor daughter and son-in-law! I'm sure taking care of your grandson hasn't been a hardship for you, though. I'm sure he's more fun than a book!

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter and her husband. Wow! Everything at once! I hope she's able to get the boot and that her husband is healthy soon.

Indefensible sounds like a good one. Have a good week!

Oh no! Much chaos and busy times for your family. I send best wishes for you son-in-law to get better, because he will be "on his feet" quicker than your daughter will be, unfortunately. Thank goodness you and your husband can be caregivers for little Cole during this crazy week.
I like the sound of Indefensible. I never heard of Ms. McCullough's books beyond The Thorn Birds, of which I enjoyed the book and the movie, too.
I need to start that Jane Porter series soon. I've read some of her fluffy contemps.
